Concerns

ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS
In

conventional ATMs PIN is needed

PIN comes in an envelope which contains
2 sheets of paper and between this
sheets secret code is marked
RBI report says 25000 new accounts
are opened daily
On yearly basis, a lot of paper is required
leads to cutting of trees

SECURITY CONCERNS
Anybody

holding the card with PIN

number known can operate
No need to be the original owner of the
card
In Bio metric only the original card holder
can operate

BIO METRIC ATMs

Biometrics

refers to the automatic

identification of a person based on his
physiological/behavioral characteristics.
Various types of biometric systems are
being used for real time identification;most
popular are based on face recognition and
finger print matching.

WHY USE IT?

Traditional

methods involving passwords

and PIN numbers
Biometrics highest level of security

VARIOUS BIOMETRIC SYSTEMS

1.

HAND
The three dimensional shape of a
persons hand has several advantages as
an identification device. Scanning a hand
and producing a result takes
1.2seconds.It requires little space for data
storage about 9 bytes which can fit easily
magnetic strip credit cards.

2.

FINGER PRINT
Most of the work in biometrics
identification has gone into the finger
print for general security and access
control application fingerprints are
gaining popularity.

MULTIBIOMETRICS
1.

INTEGRATING FACES AND FINGER PRINTS

FOR PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION
An automatic personal identification
system based on fingerprints or faces is often
not able to meet the system performance
requirements.

MULTIBIOMETRICS
2.

A MULTIMODEL BIOMETRIC SYSTEM

USING FINGERPRINT, FACE AND SPEECH
This system takes the advantage of the
capabilities of each individual biometric. It can
be used to overcome some of the limitations of
a single biometrics.

CONCLUSION
A range of biometric systems are in
developments or on the market because no one
system meets all needs. The trade off in
developing these systems involve component
cost, reliability, discomfort in using a device, the
amount of data needed and other factors. But

the application of advanced digital

techniques has made the job possible.
Further experiments are going all over the
world.
