MSP 1:N
Starting from Rel.4, MSP 1:N (n main and one standby) is introduced.
Details:
n main and one standby (or protection). The main channels provide service: If a main channel
fails, the standby channel switches to provide service in place of failed channel. Switching is
revertive, which permits extra traffic to be carried on the standby channel

Path Overhead (POH)
Starting from Rel.4, Path overhead monitoring selectable is introduced at AU4/TU level (in the previous
Releases was embedded in the SW).
This is used for functions necessary to transport the payload, for example, end-to-end network
management. These functions include parity check and trace capability

Optical Intrusion management
This is the capability to detect intrusion on an optical line by unauthorized users and to provide
consequent alarm raise by the NE. Optical intrusion concept relies in the monitoring of the
receiving power in the STM- 64 line modules, with an alert raised in case of Rx power falling
below or rising above a configured threshold. Rx power is retrieved by the XFP termination
supporting DDM.

All Rights Reserved Alcatel-Lucent 2012, #####

1850 TSS-100/C R4.1 Features Management security enhancements

Login intrusion management
It detects invalid access by an unauthorized local user (login intrusion) and to provide an
INTRUSION alarm as consequent action, with alarm assigned severity via ASAP management.
An alarm is raised when the number of invalid login attempts exceeds a provisioned limit, at
least between 1 and 15, default 5. This alarm is coupled with the user ID lockout mechanism.

All Rights Reserved Alcatel-Lucent 2012, #####

1850 TSS-100/C R4.1 Features Management security enhancements

Logical port / Physical port access control
It provides a SW mechanism to enable/disable access to any Logical/physical port that can be
accessed by the user (i.e CT interface)

All Rights Reserved Alcatel-Lucent 2012, #####

1850 TSS-100/C R4.1 Features Management security enhancements

It supports the capability to enable/disable Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) on a
local ZIC port.

Secure SHell (SSH2)
Secure SHell (SSH2) provide secure encrypted and authenticated communications between
network management systems and NEs in an untrusted network. It replaces other, insecure
terminal applications, such as Telnet and FTP. The following applications are supported:

FTP over SSH (sometimes referred to as Secure FTP [SFTP])

CLI and TL1 over SSH using dedicated port: 6084 and 6085 (TL1), 6086 (CLI)

HTTPS for browser access to ZIC allows Secure connection to ZIC via standard web browser
using the HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS).

the packet-based transport approach, while delivering at the same time, the reliability, availability,
operation administration and maintenance (OAM) capabilities features associated with traditional TimeDivision Multiplexing TDM transport networks.

APS Automatic Protection Switching

All Rights Reserved Alcatel-Lucent 2012, #####

1850 TSS-100/C R4.1 Features TMPLS

TMPLS OAM: OAM CV
OAM CV is based on the periodic transmission of CV packets from ingress to egress of a T-MPLS connection.
OAM CV period is 1 second by default but can be editable by TL1/ZIC

All Rights Reserved Alcatel-Lucent 2012, #####

1850 TSS-100/C R4.1 Features TMPLS

TMPLS OAM: OAM FDI
OAM FDI is used for alarm suppression for client layer. Two manners of FDI packets insertion are available:
in all the pass-through tunnels correspondent to the link where failure is detected
insertion on the transported PWs or at client layer.
FDI packets are transmitted with the periodicity of 1 s, until the fail condition is cleared
(it cannot be editable)

All Rights Reserved Alcatel-Lucent 2012, #####

1850 TSS-100/C R4.1 Features TMPLS

TMPLS OAM: OAM APS
OAM APS is used to control protection switching operations. APS packets are inserted/received on the
Protecting (spare) Tunnel only, periodically every 5 sec in normal conditions; in case of status change of the
protection end point, 3 APS packets are inserted every 3.3 ms.

All Rights Reserved Alcatel-Lucent 2012, #####

1850 TSS-100/C R4.1 Features TMPLS

TMPLS Protection
1:1 linear trail architecture for Tunnel only is supported according with ITU-T G.8131:
bidirectional switching is supported
1-phase APS protocol is supported
revertive switch only is implemented
1:1 architecture: normal traffic is transported either on the working transport entity or on the
protection transport entity using a selector bridge at the source of the protected domain.
At the sink of the protected domain the entity that carries the normal traffic is selected. Since source and
sink bridge need to be coordinated, an APS protocol is necessary.
Bi-directional switching type: both directions of the connection are switched to protection. APS protocol is
required to coordinate the two endpoints
1-phase APS protocol: the communication between the two ends of the protected domain A and Z is only
in one phase, from Z to A or A to Z.
Revertive : service will always return to (or remain on) the working connection if the switch requests are
terminated.

TMPLS Protection
Switching criteria can be:
Connectivity Verification (CV) function
According with ITU-T G.8131 CV_Period = 3.33ms for Protection Switching
They are inserted at both working and protection side.

Forward Defect Indication (FDI) detection

The generated FDI traffic units are inserted in the incoming stream, i.e. the output stream
contains the incoming traffic units and the generated FDI traffic units.

1850 TSS-100/C R4.1 Features TMPLS

TMPLS Services: EVPL/EVPLAN
Transport MPLS networks are able to provide the following services:
EVPL (Ethernet Virtual Private Line) based on E-Line (point-to-point EVC)

EVPLAN (Ethernet Virtual Private LAN) based on E-LAN/E-TREE (multipoint EVC)

All Rights Reserved Alcatel-Lucent 2012, #####

1850 TSS-100/C R4.1 Features TMPLS

TMPLS Services: E-LAN/E-TREE
E-LAN/E-TREE (VPLS) can be created with the appropriate Pw and Uni ports.

In this SW rel. is possible to select enable (true) or disable (false) the Mac learning function

All Rights Reserved Alcatel-Lucent 2012, #####

1850 TSS-100/C R4.1 Features TMPLS

TMPLS Services: E-LAN/E-TREE
Basing on the input PW roles selected, Hub or Spoke, VPLS could be E-LAN or E-TREE
Spoke: traffic received in the PW must be forward to other PWs and UNI ports (E-LAN)
Hub: traffic received in the PW must be forward only to UNI port (E-TREE)
