1 Fear At The
Top

There seems to be a
moment
when everything
stands still.
Your heart begins to
race,
as you look down the
hill.

With the ski poles by

your side
as you try to loose your
fear.
Making one more gut

With the new snow blowing

as the wind goes whistling by.
You hope to make it down
as you turn to say goodbye

Your adrenalin starts

to pump
as you push off down
the hill.
And all of your
emotions build
into this heightened
thrill.

Then as you reach the

bottom
and your heart rate
settles down.
Then you get this big
smile
as you slowly turn
around.

A-5
I
1. when does the poets heart begins
to race ?
The poets hearts begin to race when
he looks down the hill

How does the poet try to loose fear ?

The poet tries to loose fear by
comforting himself that it is not too
hard

What does the poet hope?

The poet hopes that he would be
able to go down the hill without any
problem

When does the poet get a smile on

his face?
The poet gets a smile on his face
when he reaches the bottom of the
hill.

How can we relate the poem to human life?

Human life is also very much like the sport of
skiing , before actually taking up an activity we
are nervous whether we will be able to make it
up or not i.e whether we will be successful or
not we may come across some obstacles or we
may stumble down. We may have to leave it in
between. As is the case of skiing we just need
to gather courage and give a little push up
from the top. We shall gradually come to the
winning point(of course a little balancing and
alertness is very important). Any activity we
wish to start we should get the courage and we
will do it . Things will go smoothly. Life is sport,
enjoy it

Do you feel there is fear at the top ?

Explain.
Fear is feeling that grips a person who is
not confident about his capabilities. For a
person who is there at the top for the
first time gets baffled (confused) and
frightened by the breathtaking height .
He feels that he may stumble down
leading to a serious accident. But once
he jumps off he finds it very exciting and
fear gets converted into a joy of ride . So
in fact there is no fear but just a false
feeling of it.

How far do you agree with the feeling

of poet? Give reasons.
I agree with the poet completely.
Initially everybody seems to get
frightened by the height through
which they have to go but later on
they seem to enjoy it and when they
touch the finishing line. They come
out with a big smile, showing feeling
of a great achievement.

A-6 Life is sport

Cricket
Cricket is a challenging game .
There should be a co-ordination
among all of us to win the game
Targets are set in cricket that
has to be achieved

In cricket we need to save each

and every run or fours so that
opponents should not score
more
We should have a positive and
winning attitude in cricket and
life

Life
Life is also challinging
In life we need to co-ordinate
with all people , time and other
small things to get our work
done.
Same is the case with life , we
need to set target and work
towards its achievement
In real life we need to save
each and every rupee(i.e we
should not waste money) in
order to make huge profit.
Whereas in life we shall lose
the reputation and the entire
buisness too.

A-10

to take the decision whether hw

by it

Making one more gut check

He tries to gain courage by losing
