Course Objectives
This course covers aspects of materials; from basic science (and mathematics)
to engineering discipline.
At the end of the course , students will be able to:
i.classify the types and functions of the materials in written
ii.calculate the atomic structure and indentify the energy levels in terms of
atomic bonding
iii.
indentify the metallic crystal structure and crystal systems orally
iv.
classify and indentify types of imperfections in solid in group discussion
v.explain the mechanism, steady state diffusion and factors that influence
diffusion in group discussion
vi.
explain briefly the concepts of stress and strain as well as elastic
deformation, plastic deformation and tensile properties in short essay
vii.
indentify the molecular chain structures, the polymer and its usage in

classify and identify the ceramic materials in term of crystal structure,
