Initiatives taken in Raigarh


(Chattisgarh)
The company has signed a MOU with the
Government of Chhattisgarh for investing Rs.
35 crores for improving social infrastructure in &
around Raigarh in next three years

Adoption of more than 42 villages for overall


upgradation.

UTTHAN
Under the activities of Corporate Social Responsibility, Jindal
Steel & Power Ltd has launched women empowerment
program "Uthhan" in Raigarh district on January 8th 2008.

Utthan is a basically 12 days multipurpose and multi


dimensions training cum awareness program.

During the program period the women participants from


rural areas will be introducing to various technical,
economical, social and cultural aspects of a happy,
productive and healthy life for individual and family.

50 women from 10 different villages; ie Gare, Khamria,


Dhaurabhata etc are participating in this training
program.

Initiatives taken in Angul (Orissa)


The company is investing about Rs 15,000 crore in
the facility at Angul. In addition the company is also
investing about Rs 5000 crore for a 1500 Mw power
plant.

P Jindal Institute of Technology & Skills started since


July, 2007.
More than 3000 families have benefited so far from
various medical camps organized.
Deworming of livestock, vaccination camps and
vitamin supplementary schemes initiated to improve
nourishment of animals.

Electrification programmes carried out


at village Nisa & village Bada Mahitala.
Schemes to improve infrastructure of
existing schools initiated at Benagadia
High School and Panpur Primary

Initiatives taken in Patratu


(Jharkhand)
JSPL is setting up a steel plant of 6 million tonnes
per annum capacity at Patratu in Jharkhand State with
an investment of Rs. 15,000 crores.
The company has undertaken many projects for
upgradation of basic services such as sanitation,
healthcare, education, plantation of trees, building of
roads, etc. in adjoining villages.
OP Jindal Institute of Technology and Skills trains
youth under Modular Employment Schemes (Welder,
Electrician & MMV).
JSPL has renovated several schools and distributed

FUTURE INVESTMENTS

According to the company's Annual Report 08-09, the

company spent Rs. 150 million (US $ 3 million) towards


CSR initiatives, as against a Net Income of more than Rs.
15 billion (US $ 300 million).
JSPL targets to spent Rs 5 crore on various CSR
initiatives near the project site at Angul (Orrisa).
JSW Steel, will be increasing its expenses on CSR
activities in the next fiscal by allocating 1.5 per cent of
its net profit towards such initiatives.
This move would take up the group's spending on CSR
initiative by up to 10 per cent of the present
