What is phonics?
The phonic sounds we make when speaking.
We blend the sounds to make different sounds
and words.

Why phonics?
Learningphonicswill help children learn to
read and spell.
Written language can be compared to a code.
So, knowing the sounds of letters and letter
combinations will help them decode words as

What is a grapheme?
A grapheme is a letter or a number of letters
(symbols) that represent a sound (phoneme) in a
word.

When do I teach phonics?


From Kindergarten or whenever the
