 Indian print media is one of the largest print media in the world. It started
in 1780, with the publication of the Bengal Gazette from Calcutta. The
first paper in an Indian language was Samachar Darpan in Bangla. first
Hindi newspaper, the Samachar Sudha Varshan began in 1854.
 Newspapers in India are measured on two parameters, circulation and
readership. Circulation is certified by the Audit Bureau of Circulations
which is an industry body. It audits the paid-for circulation of the
member newspaper companies. Readership is estimated by two different
surveys, The Indian Readership Survey (IRS) and the National
Readership Survey (NRS).

 Times of India should make space in consumer life.
 Many readers complained about the kind of pictures carried by
Delhi Times. ‘‘Why do you carry semi-nude pictures of foreign
actresses?’’ a person asked. To this, Sabina Saigal replied that
Delhi Times made a clear distinction between obscenity and
aesthetics.
 TOI must concerted efforts to highlight various problems like lack
of local transport, poor connectivity with Delhi, sanitation, water
and sewerage, stray pigs and animals, traffic chaos and
haphazard growth.
 Students are the most potential market for “TOI”, so “TOI” Should
give-
 (a) Promotional schemes to organization, classes or schools so new
generation becomes habitual to “TOI” Only.
 (b) More career news on regular basis (twice or thrice a week) on
“TOI” newspaper or start two supplements on career per week.
TOI should start a section for improvement of vocabulary in
 People like it because of their Hollywood & Bollywood News,
Political News, Economical News and local News.
 Easy to understand language.
 Colourful paper & updated and authentic information.
 Students read newspaper due to Education times & Ascent.

 Good cultural information.
 The newspaper is taking extra care to distinguish between
obscenity and aesthetics and carrying only those pictures which
were aesthetically appealing.
 The Times of India was also catering to a large section of young
readers who wanted to read more about lifestyle.
 Internet, radio, T.V. and new emerging threat mobile are now main
source of information. And because of this, newspaper industry
is facing problem. People like to watch T.V., listening radio and
new and big sources of information are Internet and mobile,
people like assess this.

are cartoon stripes, the speaking tree and GOD&I article by
celebrity in Times Of India.
 Students, Businessmen and the others get information what
they want. For example Ascent & Education Times updates
