Task 1
1.Factor

+ 64. Check your work.

- (-64) = (x + 6i)(x 6i)

2.Factor 16x + 49. Check your work.

2

- (-49) = (4x + 7i)(4x 7i)

3. Find the product of (x + 9i)

+ 2(x * 9i) +
+ 18xi +

+ 18xi - 81

4.Find
the product of (x 2i)

+ 2(x * -2i) +
- 4xi +
- 4xi - 4

5.Find the product of (x + (3+5i)) .

2

+ 2(x * (3 + 5i) + (3+5i)2

+ 2(3x + 5xi) + (9 + 30i + )
+ 6x + 10xi + 9 + 30i +
+ 6x + 10xi + 9 + 30i 25

Task 2
1. (x + 2)6
1+ ++ +1
+ 6 * 2 + 15 * 4 + 20 * 8 + 15 * 16 + 6 * 32x + 64
+ 12 + 60 + 160 + 240 + 192x + 644

3.

32 + 5(16) + 10(8) + 10(4) + 5(2) + 2

(2x + 3)5

32 + 5 * 48 + 10 * 72 + 10 * 108 + 5 * 162x + 243

32 + 240 + 720 + 1080 + 810x + 243

4. (2x 3y)4
16 + 4()) + 6()) + 4()) + 2
16 + 4 * + 6 * + 4 * +
16 + +

Task
2( continued)
5.

In the expansion of (3a + 4b)8, which of the following are possible variable

terms? Explain your reasoning.

a2b3; a5b3; ab8; b8; a4b4; a8; ab7; a6b5

a b ; b ; a b ; a ; ab
5

are the possible variables terms because the

exponent is 8. So when you multiply a by b the exponents are added.

a5b3 has the exponents 5 and 3 when, 5 and 3 are added, the result would
be 8; If you try the others, it will be like the same. b8 = 8 ; a4b4 = 4 + 4 = 8 ;
ab7 = 1 + 7= 8

Task 3
1. Determine how many, what type, and find the roots for f(x) = x

.There are four roots;

+ 21x2 100.

2 real roots and 2 complex roots

(X + 2)(X - 2)(x - 5i)(x + 5i)

2.

x = -2; x =2; x = 5i; x =-5i

Determine how many, what type, and find the roots for f(x) = x 3- 5x2 25x + 125.

.There are 3 roots; 1 real roots and two complex.

( x 5)( + 25);

x =5; x = 5i

3.

The following graph shows a seventh-degree polynomial:

Part 1: List the polynomials zeroes with possible multiplicities: (-5,0)(4,0)

Part 2: Write a possible factored form of the seventh degree function: f(x)= (x + 1)(x 7)

4.

Without plotting any points other than intercepts, draw a possible graph of the following polynomial:

f(x) = (x + 8)3(x + 6)2(x + 2)(x 1)3(x 3)4(x 6).

Task 3 (continued)

Task 4
1.
2.
3.

+ = = = =,
* = * =,

x -2 or 4

- = ==

4. / = * = * =
5. Compare and contrast division of integers to division of rational expressions.
Division of integers is a fraction while division of rational expressions is the division of polynomial.

Task 5

A honor course is a class that is challenging. Students take it if they think or believe that they can pass it. Most students
from honor classes pass their test like EOC and it benefits students by keeping their GPA high. I think honors standards are
necessary because it develops the students education. The honor standards from this lesson are used in the real words in a
bunch of ways like money, cooking, checking answers, etc. . They are also used by fashion designer, builder, etc It is also
useful when it comes to time management. For example, someone can figure out how fast it will be to work on something
together than individually. The honors endorsement is valuable enough that scarce educational funding should be spent to
subsidize it on the program because without the funds honors classes wont be available. In reality, Honor standards are really
necessary because some students want challenges and doesnt want to work in a class where students are playing around and
slowing them down.
