1. Requirements for the DC Supply
When the BTS uses the 48 V DC or +24 V DC supply, the power supply
system must meet the following requirements:
DC power
The on/off overshoot amplitude is not greater than 5% of the DC output voltage.
Dynamic response: The restore time is less than 200 ms. The overshoot value is
less than or

equipment. When designing the capacity of the DC supply system, you should
consider the
maximum load of the system in dynamic and static modes. In addition, reserve the
remaining
system resource.
To reduce power consumption and installation cost, ensure that the voltage drop of

For the office with a medium traffic volume, configure a centralized power room or
battery room,
or adopt the distributed power supply mode. For the office with a small traffic
volume, use the
integrated power supply. Take measures to prevent the corrosive gas released by
the battery
from eroding the board.
The power supply in distributed power supply mode is preferred. Use multiple DC
supply
systems and place power equipment in multiple positions.
Use the standard DC supply system, and set the output voltage of the power
system within the
required range.
Improve the reliability of the AC supply system, and reduce the capacities of
storage batteries.
For small offices, add batteries if it is difficult to enhance the reliability of the AC
supply system.

Battery
Install the storage batteries in two or more groups. The capacity is determined by the
duration when the storage batteries supply power to the load. The recommended
duration for the storage batteries to supply power to the load for most offices are as
follows. The duration is specified with the permissible power failure specifications.
The backup duration for Class 1 mains ranges from 0.5 hour to 1 hour.
The backup duration for Class 2 mains ranges from 1 hour to 2 hours.
The backup duration for Class 3 mains ranges from 2 hours to 3 hours.
The backup duration for Class 4 mains is classified as follows:
If there is only one power input with frequent power failures, the backup duration
ranges from 8 hours to 10 hours.
If there are seasonal power failures or unavailable mains that occupy a long time, the
backup duration ranges from 20 hours to 24 hours.
In the unmanned site, the following factors must be considered for the storage
batteries:
Time taken to make preparations for rectifying the power failure
Time taken to drive at an average speed from the location of maintainers to the
unmanned site
Time taken to handle the power failure
No maintainers available at night for rectifying the fault at unmanned sites on top of
maintains or at suburbs
For the site equipped with the generator which can be started at a delayed time, the
storage batteries should discharge power less than or equal to 20% of the total
capacity within the delayed period.

2. Requirements for the AC Supply
When determining the AC power distribution capacity in the equipment room, you
should consider the working current and fault current of the equipment. The
equipment must have an independent AC distribution protection device. The current
threshold of the distribution protection switch for the equipment must be greater than
that for the lower-level equipment.
If the voltage stability does not meet the requirement, you should use voltage
regulators to guarantee the voltage range. The voltage regulator should be used in
either of the following conditions:
When the equipment is powered directly by the mains, the power supply voltage
exceeds the rated voltage by 10% to +15% or exceeds the voltage range allowed for
the equipment.
When the equipment is not powered directly by the mains, the mains voltage exceeds
the rated voltage by 10% to +15% or exceeds the AC input voltage range allowed for
the DC equipment.
To ensure stable power supply, you should use the UPS or the inverter.
Configure the generator set for the office to ensure normal communication in case of
mains failure. The capacity of the generator set should be at least 1.52 times greater
than the capacity of the uninterrupted AC power supply equipment.

Grounding Requirements
Requirements for Lightning Protection of Lead-In Power Cables
The antenna of the BTS must be protected by the lightning arrester. If the lightning
arrester is installed on the building (especially on the rooftop) where the BTS is located,
and the BTS antenna is within the protection coverage of the lightning arrester, the pole
of the BTS antenna need not be installed with a lightning arrester.

Grounding Requirements
General Requirements for Grounding
The neutral line of the AC power cable must not be connected to the protection
ground of any exchange or communications devices.
All grounding cables must be short and straight. The grounding cables cannot be
twisted.
Fuses or switches cannot be added on grounding cables.
The grounding Busbar should not be oxidized. Oxidation may cause poor contact
between the grounding cables and the grounding bar, thus increasing the
resistance. Ensure that the grounding cables are securely connected to the
protection grounding bar of the equipment room.
If the galvanized steel downleads are placed 0.5 m above the ground or 0.5 m
below the ground, antirust measures should be taken against heavy moisture.
The positive and negative DC power cables must be connected to the DC output
terminal of the AC/DC or connected to the DC power distribution panel.
Page17
PGND system
Grounding Requirements
Requirements for Equipotential Grounding
All the equipment and auxiliary facilities in the equipment room must have
protection grounds.
Protection grounding for all the equipment on a site should be finally connected to
the grounding grids for the equipment room.
The grounding grids for the equipment room, tower, and power transformer are
interconnected underground in a multi-point manner. If the tower is on the rooftop
of the equipment room and the power transformer is in the equipment room, the
grounding grids of the tower and the transformer should be connected to the
grounding grid of the equipment room.
The cable rack, steel shelf, rack or chassis, metallic air conduit, and metallic
window and door must be grounded.
The grounding resistance of the BTS must be less than or equal to10 ohms.
Page18
PGND system
Grounding Requirements
Requirements for Cabling and Grounding of the Feeder
The feeder should be led into the equipment room through a cable rack or underground.
Grounding clips should be installed for the feeder. The installation positions of grounding
clips are as follows:
A point within 1 m away from the antenna
A point within 1 m away from the outdoor cable rack
A point outside the feeder window
Install a grounding clip for the feeder every 20 m. If the feeder along the tower is longer
than 60 m, add a grounding clip for the feeder at the point 30 m away from the top of the
tower.
Both ends of a cable rack should be grounded properly.
Overhead cabling must not be used. The signal cables should be routed underground.
Signal cables led in to and out of the site must be covered with the metal jacket, or
through a metal tube.
If it is difficult to route the signal cables underground, lead the signal cables through metal
tubes and ground both ends of the tubes securely. Install signal surge protectors with large
throughcurrent capacity at the port where the signal cables are led into the equipment.
The grounding cable of the surge protector should be short. Ground the idle lines in the
cable.

Cable Rack
Cable racks are classified into the indoor cable rack and the outdoor cable rack.
The cable
racks should be installed before the installation of the BTS.
The recommended specifications of the indoor cable rack are as follows: width:
400 mm;
height: 2.4 m. The cable rack should be installed according to the engineering
design.
Generally, the indoor cable rack is installed against a suspending lever. If the
indoor cable rack
is installed against a wall, a tripod or ground support can be used.
The outdoor cable rack consists of the horizontal cable rack and the vertical
cable rack. The
outdoor cable rack should be installed according to the engineering design.
The indoor cable rack is connected to the indoor grounding bar through cables. The
outdoor cable rack is welded to the lightning arrester of the building through the
reinforcing steel bar, thus connecting to the antenna support. If required, wires
should be added to improve electric connectivity between the cable racks

Before the preparatory work, you should make the antenna support according to
the engineering design and actual installation position of the tower.
When installing the antenna support on the tower, adhere to the following
principles:
A. The installation plane of the antenna support should be perpendicular to the
horizontal plane.
B. The pole for the surge protector must be installed separately on the tower.
The surge protector must be placed high enough to bring the protection areas
of all the antennas below 45.
C. The antenna support must be installed in the direction that does not affect
the transmit/receive performance and tilt regulation of the antenna.
D. A stiffener should be used to fasten the rotating lever. The expansion lever
and the rotating lever should be cut into proper lengths. The cross-section
must be welded with a cover as a waterproofing measure.
E. Dry and open welds are not allowed. The support should be made of
galvanized steel and coated with antirust paint.

the 900 MHz frequency band or at least 2 m
for
the 1800 MHz frequency band. The length of
the support lever of pole should be greater
than 1.5 m. Generally made of 75 mm round
steel, the pole should have a length of 1 m
and
a diameter of 60114 mm. During
installation,
the pole should be flush with the fixing hoop
of
the antenna. The pole should not be installed
at
a too high position because the Omnidirectional
antenna is long (3 m). The top of the

protection angle of the
Based on the type of antennas, you should choose supports and poles of different
specifications. If the antenna support is installed on the rooftop, the antenna
support lever should be strengthened by a stiffener, the length of which depends
on that of the antenna support lever.
The strength of the materials for the antenna support and pole should meet the
requirements of antenna load capacity and wind load.
The top of the pole should be installed with a lightning arrester, and the pole should
be properly connected to the grounding grid.
The base of the antenna support, the anchor of the stiffener, and their expansion
bolts should be covered with concrete.
If there are enclosing walls on the rooftop, the antenna support can be installed on
an enclosing wall. Ensure that the main supporting post is vertical to the surface of
the rooftop. In addition, ensure that the antenna support is equipped with a surge
protector and is connected to the grounding grid of the building.
Page32
The length of the pole depends on that of the antenna. It is recommended that the
length of the pole be greater than 2.5 mm and that the diameter range from 60
mm to 114 mm.
The main supporting post of antenna support should be longer than the antenna.
The relation between h and d should meet the specifications illustrated in Figure 618 and listed in Table 6-9, where h indicates the valid vertical distance between
the lower edge of the antenna and the rooftop in the direction that the antenna
faces, and d indicates the distance between the edge of the rooftop in the
direction that the antenna faces and the antenna support.
