Power system
1. Requirements for the DC Supply
When the BTS uses the 48 V DC or +24 V DC supply, the power supply
system must meet the following requirements:
DC power

Voltage range for the -48 V DC: -38.4 V DC to -57 V DC

Voltage range for the +24 V DC: +21 V DC to +29 V DC

The on/off overshoot amplitude is not greater than 5% of the DC output voltage.

The peak-to-peak noise voltage is smaller than or equal to 200 mV.

Dynamic response: The restore time is less than 200 ms. The overshoot value is
less than or

equal to 5% of the DC output voltage.

DC supply system

To shorten the DC feeder, place the power equipment close to the

telecommunications

equipment. When designing the capacity of the DC supply system, you should
consider the

maximum load of the system in dynamic and static modes. In addition, reserve the
remaining

system resource.

To reduce power consumption and installation cost, ensure that the voltage drop of

between the battery port and the port on the equipment

is less than 3.2 V.

Power system
DC supply system

For the office with a medium traffic volume, configure a centralized power room or
battery room,
or adopt the distributed power supply mode. For the office with a small traffic
volume, use the
integrated power supply. Take measures to prevent the corrosive gas released by
the battery
from eroding the board.

The power supply in distributed power supply mode is preferred. Use multiple DC
supply
systems and place power equipment in multiple positions.

Use the standard DC supply system, and set the output voltage of the power
system within the
required range.

Improve the reliability of the AC supply system, and reduce the capacities of
storage batteries.
For small offices, add batteries if it is difficult to enhance the reliability of the AC
supply system.

Battery

Install the storage batteries in two or more groups. The capacity is determined by the
duration when the storage batteries supply power to the load. The recommended
duration for the storage batteries to supply power to the load for most offices are as
follows. The duration is specified with the permissible power failure specifications.
The backup duration for Class 1 mains ranges from 0.5 hour to 1 hour.
The backup duration for Class 2 mains ranges from 1 hour to 2 hours.
The backup duration for Class 3 mains ranges from 2 hours to 3 hours.
The backup duration for Class 4 mains is classified as follows:
If there is only one power input with frequent power failures, the backup duration
ranges from 8 hours to 10 hours.
If there are seasonal power failures or unavailable mains that occupy a long time, the
backup duration ranges from 20 hours to 24 hours.
In the unmanned site, the following factors must be considered for the storage
batteries:
Time taken to make preparations for rectifying the power failure
Time taken to drive at an average speed from the location of maintainers to the
unmanned site
Time taken to handle the power failure
No maintainers available at night for rectifying the fault at unmanned sites on top of
maintains or at suburbs
For the site equipped with the generator which can be started at a delayed time, the
storage batteries should discharge power less than or equal to 20% of the total
capacity within the delayed period.

2. Requirements for the AC Supply

Use independent electricity network of good power supply quality.

When determining the AC power distribution capacity in the equipment room, you
should consider the working current and fault current of the equipment. The
equipment must have an independent AC distribution protection device. The current
threshold of the distribution protection switch for the equipment must be greater than
that for the lower-level equipment.

If the voltage stability does not meet the requirement, you should use voltage
regulators to guarantee the voltage range. The voltage regulator should be used in
either of the following conditions:

When the equipment is powered directly by the mains, the power supply voltage
exceeds the rated voltage by 10% to +15% or exceeds the voltage range allowed for
the equipment.

When the equipment is not powered directly by the mains, the mains voltage exceeds
the rated voltage by 10% to +15% or exceeds the AC input voltage range allowed for
the DC equipment.

To ensure stable power supply, you should use the UPS or the inverter.

Configure the generator set for the office to ensure normal communication in case of
mains failure. The capacity of the generator set should be at least 1.52 times greater
than the capacity of the uninterrupted AC power supply equipment.

Antenna & Support on Tower

Before the preparatory work, you should make the antenna support according to
the engineering design and actual installation position of the tower.
When installing the antenna support on the tower, adhere to the following
principles:
A. The installation plane of the antenna support should be perpendicular to the
horizontal plane.
B. The pole for the surge protector must be installed separately on the tower.
The surge protector must be placed high enough to bring the protection areas
of all the antennas below 45.
C. The antenna support must be installed in the direction that does not affect
the transmit/receive performance and tilt regulation of the antenna.
D. A stiffener should be used to fasten the rotating lever. The expansion lever
and the rotating lever should be cut into proper lengths. The cross-section
must be welded with a cover as a waterproofing measure.
E. Dry and open welds are not allowed. The support should be made of
galvanized steel and coated with antirust paint.

Page29

Antenna & Support on tower

For the directional antenna, the

length of the pole depends on that
of the antenna. In wide coverage
application, high gain antennas are
generally used. Such antennas are
long, so it is recommended that the
length of the pole be greater than 3
m and that the diameter (generally
75 mm) range from 60 mm to 114
mm. For the uni-polarization
antenna, the distance between the
two diversities of the two antennas
serving one sector must be at least
4 m for the 900 MHz frequency
band and at least 2 m for the 1800
MHz frequency band. In figure
shows the directional-antenna
support on a tower.

tower

Generally, an Omni-directional antenna is a

uni-polarization antenna. The distance
between diversities should be at least 4 m

for
the 900 MHz frequency band or at least 2 m
for
the 1800 MHz frequency band. The length of
the support lever of pole should be greater
than 1.5 m. Generally made of 75 mm round
steel, the pole should have a length of 1 m
and
a diameter of 60114 mm. During
installation,
the pole should be flush with the fixing hoop
of
the antenna. The pole should not be installed
at
a too high position because the Omnidirectional
antenna is long (3 m). The top of the

must be within the Page31
protection angle of the

Antenna Support on a Rooftop

Requirements for the design of the pole

Based on the type of antennas, you should choose supports and poles of different
specifications. If the antenna support is installed on the rooftop, the antenna
support lever should be strengthened by a stiffener, the length of which depends
on that of the antenna support lever.

The strength of the materials for the antenna support and pole should meet the
requirements of antenna load capacity and wind load.

The jointing surface should be coated with antirust paint.

The jointing should be firm. Dry or open weld is not allowed.

The top of the pole should be installed with a lightning arrester, and the pole should
be properly connected to the grounding grid.

The base of the antenna support, the anchor of the stiffener, and their expansion
bolts should be covered with concrete.

If there are enclosing walls on the rooftop, the antenna support can be installed on
an enclosing wall. Ensure that the main supporting post is vertical to the surface of
the rooftop. In addition, ensure that the antenna support is equipped with a surge
protector and is connected to the grounding grid of the building.

Antenna Support on a Rooftop

Specifications of the directional-antenna support and pole on a rooftop

For the uni-polarization directional antenna, because of the requirements for

diversity spacing, the distance between the two poles supporting the two antennas
should be at least 4 m for the 900 MHz frequency band or 2 m for the 1800 MHz
frequency band.

The length of the pole depends on that of the antenna. It is recommended that the
length of the pole be greater than 2.5 mm and that the diameter range from 60
mm to 114 mm.

The main supporting post of antenna support should be longer than the antenna.
The relation between h and d should meet the specifications illustrated in Figure 618 and listed in Table 6-9, where h indicates the valid vertical distance between
the lower edge of the antenna and the rooftop in the direction that the antenna
faces, and d indicates the distance between the edge of the rooftop in the
direction that the antenna faces and the antenna support.
