Research objective:
To fabricate a 3-dimensional porous structure hydrogel
with excellent mass transport properties

Step 1: Synthesis of poly (dimethyl-comethylhydrido) siloxane precursor solution

(PDDMHS)

Chemical formulation for synthesis of PDMMHS

Molecular
weight= 6000

Percentage of Si-H group along the molecular chain= 15 %

(HMDS)
(HMDS) 162.38+ m(296.62)+m(15/100)(240.51)=6000

m~18 and n~3

Hence, 1 mole of HMDS react with 18 mole of D4 and 3 mole of D4H to
produce PDMMHS solution with molecular weight of 6000 with 15 % Si-H
moiety.

Let mass of D4= 20g

Concentration= 20/296.62= 0.0674 mole
Hence, mole of D4H needed=0.0674 3/18= 0.01124 mole
mass od D4H needed= 2.70g
Hence, mole of HMDS needed= 0.0674 1/18= 0.00375 mole
mass of HMDS needed= 0.00375 162.38= 0.60 g

Step 2: Synthesis of poly (dimethyl-comethylmethacrylate) siloxane precursor solution

(PDMMMS)

Step 3: Hydrogel fabrication

UV-crosslinking using UV chamber equipped with Philip
uv-A tube that emit energy in the wavelength region of
300-400 nm.
Photoinitiator used: Irgacure 651
Parameter studied: Different weight ratio of PDMMMS and
PEGDA
Characterization:
Chemical FTIR, gel content, swelling ratio, thermal
properties, mechanical properties and morphology
