What is Vocabulary ?
Vocabulary is a list of word and often phrase, usually
arranged alphabetically and defined or translated a
lexicon or glossary. . A vocabulary usually develops
with age, and serves as a useful and fundamental tool
for communication and acquiring knowledge.
(Grolier, 1981).

Why Teach Vocabulary?


Learners depend on vocabulary as their first resource

(Huckin & Bloch, 1993)


A rich vocabulary makes the skills of listening,

speaking, reading, and writing easier to perform


(Nation, 1994)
Learners with poor vocabulary level get frustrated

easily in trying to express their thought resulting in


higher affective filter

The Objective of Teaching


Vocabulary
The essential objective is for the students:
to acquire, remember, and meaningfully use
newly learnt words.

1.How is the profile of students mastery of vocabulary
taught using Climbing Up a Ladder game?
2. How is the profile of students mastery of passive voice
taught without using Climbing Up a Ladder game?
3. Is there any difference in mastery among students
taught vocabulary by using Climbing Up a Ladder and
without using it?

To find out the profile of students mastery of vocabulary
taught using Climbing Up a Ladder game.

3. To find out the difference in mastery among students taught
vocabulary by using Climbing Up a Ladder game and without
using it.

General Procedures
Form two groups that are group A and group B. Member
total must same and balance
A member from each group come blackboard or empty
ladder containing picture. Group A look out on board A,
group B look out on board B
In base ladder child will be written a beginning word as
student stepping will climb ladder.
After given order "One Two Three Go" member from
each group by rotation progress to write word in ladder
child at on it. Word that written begun with ladder child word
latest font at under it.

All members must fill / participate. When a member not


idea or too long stand at blackboard, may be replaced next
member. Every member only get once turn

Each must grab in advance until top ladder.


Stop game if there are group reach ladder top.

Data
a. Documentation Method (data verbal such
as certification, cassette, etc.)
b. Test Method (the teaching and learning
process applied by the researcher
consists of pre-test, treatment and posttest )
