White Students Protesting Racial

Integration of Schools

Between 1933 and 1945, the German

government led by Adolf Hitler and the
Nazi Party carried out the systematic
persecution and murder of Europes Jews.
This genocide is now known
as the Holocaust.

At the time, Germany was one of the worlds most

technologically advanced countries in the world, much like
the USA is today.
Germany practiced discrimination against Jews just like the
US did against blacks, Hispanics and other groups.
But Germany took this much further and in much more violent
ways.

Nazi Germany killed the people it thought were

inferior.
It wasnt just Jews.
They also killed Gypsy people, gay people, people
with handicaps, Polish and Russian people,
members of the Communist party, and Germans
that didnt agree with what they were doing.

Stereotypes of Jews

My Dads Family

Jews had lived in

Germany, Poland,
Austria and other
European countries
for hundreds of
years.

The Aryan Nation

The government of Germany believed
that the Aryan people were a
different and superior race than the
Jewish people.
They told their people that the Jews
were the cause of all the bad things
in the world.
The Nazis defined the Jewish people
as a disease that would destroy the
health of the German nation.
Hitler and his government taught the
German people that getting rid of the
Jews would make them safe.
That made it okay to take away the
rights of Jews, to take their property,
to relocate them, and eventually to
murder them because they were no
longer seen as human beings.

Stereotypes make Racism

that they were superior
to all other races.

was the most
important person in
the world.

1942 The Final Solution

My fathers parents and his
two older sisters were forced
to leave their home by
German soldiers. They were
put on a train and sent to
the Treblinka Extermination
Camp where they were
murdered.
The deportation of the 22,000
Jews of Piotrkw Trybunalski,
Poland, began in the early morning
hours of October 14, 1942. In the
process 1000 Jews, most of them
too sick to get out of bed, were
shot. The remaining Jews were
shipped to Treblinka, where those
who did not die on the journey
perished in the gas chambers.
