While a degree and complementary courses can open doors, a

B1 certificate in English can be an equally important part of your
pitch for employment and further academic training.
Due to the Bologna Process requisites, university students
need to prove their language competence at different stages and
for many purposes such as Erasmus mobility, graduating,
entrance to master programmes, among others.

Universities students must earn a B1 certification, at least, to
graduate.However, certain universities might require a
higher level than that.
Accesstoamaster.Applicants to some masters must be
in possession of a B1 certificate in English to be admitted.
Extrapointsinentrance,publicexamsand
promotions.Some Communities in Spain give extra points
for candidates who have a B1 certificate in English when
applying for a public competence entrance exam or
promotion.
Others: B1enhances your curriculum vitae, is recognised
internationally, and prepares candidates for upper grades.
If you are applyingforIndefiniteLeavetoRemain
(ILR)orNaturalisation/Citizenship, the UK Home Office
may require you to prove your knowledge of the English
language. You can prove it by having an approved English
qualification at level B1 (or above) in the Common
European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

certification.
Cambridge ESOL Exams.
Trinity College London: ISE and GESE exams.
