• Limited CPU capabilities and RAM (180Mhz , 16MB RAM)

– tends to sluggish over time, unable to 100% block p2p traffic
• No interaction between hotspot user and service provider
• Hotspot user: unable to connect to secured wireless network
which requires WEP / WPA security keys
• Service provider: Cannot monitor wireless users and manage
the bandwidth used.

• Acts as authorization mechanism to force customer to
login before they can use the internet
• Simple prepaid-style approach. Customer get/buy
prepaid coupon > register > start using internet
