messages that communicate information effectively.

rules:
1. Start with a goal or outcome
2. Include a list of items that might be needed to complete the
task
3. Number the steps or stages
4. Use time connectives such as: next, then, first, after, finally.
5. Use imperatives or commands: put, open, pour, write,
answer
