All chemical used for anti-termite treatment are poisonous and hazardous to
health.
Keep the containers closed and secured.
Wear protective clothing while handling the chemicals.
Avoid flames in the vicinity during mixing.
Never allow treatment chemicals to contaminate sources of drinking water.
Follow instructions provided by the manufacturer in the MSDS ( Material Safety
Data Sheet ).
In case of poisoning take remedial measures according to the MSDS provided
by the manufacturer and as per IS 4015.

Anti-Termite Treatment
3. Codes & Standards
IS 6313 - Code of practice for anti-termite measures in buildings.
1. IS 6313 Part 1 Constructional Measures
2. IS 6313 Part 2 Pre-Constructional Anti-Termite Measures in Buildings
3. IS 6313 Part 3 Treatment for Existing Buildings

This Presentation is Specific to IS 6313 Part 2

Anti-Termite Treatment
4. General Requirements

1. Anti-termite treatment is a specialist job: Use only specialized

agencies for carrying out anti-termite treatment preferably a member
of Indian Pest Control Association.
2. Anti-termite treatment should be carried out in the early stages of
construction of buildings:- Start from substructure and up to plinth
level.
3. Follow Indian Standard Safety Code and Site Specific Safety rules
4. Submit Material Specification and MSDS to EIC before start of work

Anti-Termite Treatment
5. Site Preparation
1. Remove all organic matter, construction debris, rubbish etc.
2. Water logged foundations shall be treated after drying when the soil is

absorbent.
3. For low penetration and slopping sites, surface to be scarified 75mm
depth.
4. Complete all cutting, excavation, leveling & grading before starting
treatment .

Anti-Termite Treatment
6. Materials

1. Chloropyriphos 20% EC bearing ISI certification .

2. Dilute 1 part of Chloropyriphos 20% EC with 19 part of water to get 1%

emulsion.
3. Indian pest control association approved chemical shall be used.
4. Contractor shall submit purchase vouchers to EIC for verification.

Anti-Termite Treatment
7. Mode of Application and Rate of Application
1. Chemical emulsion should be applied uniformly by sprayers.
2. Specified rates should be applied at each stages of treatment.
3. Pressure pumps and sprayers of adequate capacity shall be used for proper

penetration of chemical.

Anti-Termite Treatment
8. Treatment for Masonry Foundations & Basement

1. Foundations shall be completely

enveloped with chemical barrier.

2. Treatment shall be from sub
structure to plinth surface
3. Apply emulsion @ 5 Ltrs/ Sqm
for

11. Junction of the Wall and Floors

1. Continuity of vertical chemical barrier on inner wall surface from ground level

to finished floor level is required.

2. Treatment shall be carried out by
i. Placing a channel of 30x30 mm at all junctions of wall and columns with
floor before sub grade is laid.
ii. Make holes using 12 mm dia rod@ 150mm c/c and breakup the earth up
to ground level.
iii. Pour chemical emulsion into the holes @ 7.5 Lit/Sqm.
iv. Tamp back the soil into the channel and consolidate the earth.

be treated.
The external perimeter of the building shall
be roded at 150 mm c/c on both ways to
make holes.
Minimum depth of hole shall be 300 mm.
Pour the chemical emulsion in to the hole @
7.5 Ltr / Sqm of vertical surface.

If earth outside the building requires
grading, treatment shall be done after
completion of grading.

16. Treatment over DPC
1. Top of concrete damp proof course in external and internal walls shall be treated.
2. A liberal coat of chemical solution shall be applied when the concrete is still green.

Anti-Termite Treatment
17. Treatment of Walls Retaining Soil above Floor Level
1. Retaining walls like the basements walls, outer walls above the floor level

shall be treated.
2. Treatment shall be in the retaining soil in immediate vicinity of the wall.
3. Treatment shall be carried @ 7.5 Ltr per Sq.mtr of vertical surface.

Anti-Termite Treatment
18. Precautions During and After Treatment
1. Care to ensure that the chemical barrier

is complete and continuous.

2. The treatment shall not be carried out
when it is raining or when the soil is
wet.
3. Treated
soil surface shall not be
disturbed.
4. Take immediate steps to restore the
continuity and completeness of the
barrier system if treated soil gets
disturbed.

Anti-Termite Treatment
