Rupa Goswami.
B. to understand the transcendental loving
affairs of Radha and Krsna.
C. and then everything concerning how to
make further progress will be revealed.
D. Advancement in Krsna consciousness
depends on the attitude of the follower.
E. Unless one controls his senses and mind,
one cannot become a gosvami

When will the agitation of the mind and

senses stop?
TRANSLATION
Before giving up this present body, if one is able to tolerate the
urges of the material senses and check the force of desire and
anger, he is well situated and is happy in this world.
PURPORT
If one wants to make steady progress on the path of self-realization,
he must try to control the forces of the material senses. There are
the forces of talk, forces of anger, forces of mind, forces of the
stomach, forces of the genitals, and forces of the tongue. One who
is able to control the forces of all these different senses, and the
mind, is called gosvami, or svami. Such gosvamis live strictly
controlled lives, and forgo altogether the forces of the senses.
Material desires, when unsatiated, generate anger, and thus the
mind, eyes and chest become agitated. Therefore, one must
practice to control them before one gives up this material body. One
who can do this is understood to be self-realized and is thus happy
in the state of self-realization. It is the duty of the transcendentalist
to try strenuously to control desire and anger. Bg 5.23

REAL ATONEMENT
A sinful activity cannot be counteracted by a pious activity. Thus real prayascitta,
atonement, is the awakening of our dormant Krsna consciousness. Real
atonement involves coming to real knowledge, and for this there is a

Vaco vegam: urge to speak

The conclusion is that only when we talk about
devotional service to the Supreme Personality of
Godhead can we refrain from useless
nonsensical talk. We should always endeavor to
use our speaking power solely for the purpose of
realizing Krsna consciousness.
[Text One purport, p9]

Manasah vegam: minds demands

However, if one always thinks of Krsna
and how to serve Krsna best, one's mind
will naturally be controlled.
[Text One purport, p5]

Krodha vegam: actions of anger

We cannot stop anger altogether, but if we
simply become angry with those who
blaspheme the Lord or the devotees of the
Lord, we control our anger in Krsna
consciousness.
[Text One purport, p5]

jihva-vegam udaropastha-vegam:
urges of the tongue, belly and genitals
One may observe that these three senses
are physically situated in a straight line, as
far as the body is concerned, and that the
bodily demands begin with the tongue. If
one can restrain the demands of the
tongue by limiting its activities to the eating
of prasada, the urges of the belly and the
genitals can automatically be controlled.

TRANSLATION
"When one eats food offered by a materialistic man, one's mind
becomes contaminated, and when the mind is contaminated, one is
unable to think of Krsna properly.
PURPORT
Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura suggests that people who
are materialistically inclined and sahajiyas, or so-called Vaisnavas
who take everything very casually, are both visayis, or materialists.
Eating food offered by them causes contamination, and as a result of
such contamination, even a serious devotee becomes like a
materialistic man. One should very carefully avoid associating
with both the sahajiyas, who are sometimes known as Vaisnavas,
and the non-Vaisnavas, or avaisnavas. Their association changes the
transcendental devotional service of Lord Krsna into sense
gratification, and when sense gratification enters the mind of a
devotee, he is contaminated. The materialistic person who aspires
after sense gratification cannot properly think of Krsna. [CC Antya

Tatastha -sakti
We are spirit soul. We are put into marginal because... Just like
the margin is explained: tatastha. That is... We have translated
into "marginal." Just like we go on the Pacific beach. Some day
we find the water is covering the beach, and some day we see it
is open. There is no water. So that is called marginal. Marginal.
Sometimes it is covered by water; sometimes there is no water.
Similarly, we, being marginal potency, we are sometimes
influenced by this material nature, not always. Because at the
present moment for sometimes we are under the material nature,
now, if we try, then we can get out of this covering of material
nature and come to the spiritual nature. That is Krsna
consciousness movement. Krsna consciousness movement
means don't remain in the marginal position. Come in the land so
there will be no disturbance by the water. This is the position. If
you remain on the marginal position, then sometimes you will be
covered by the water and sometimes it will be dry. But if you little
come forward this side, land side, the ocean has no power to
touch you.
