problems found.
Write down as many assessments as

youve found so far.

What is
development?

Development
Sometimes mixed with growth
Growth has the same symptoms which is

changes though the fact is different.

Development relates with qualitative aspect.

Development)
development = changes relates with the

quantitative and qualitative.

a series of changes that are progressive,

orderly and sustainable and accumulative

Development principles
1) The development is the result of interaction

between maturation and learning

2) The pattern of development can be general /
special
3) There are individual differences in the
development .

Development principles
4) There are periods in the development
pattern
5) There are developmental tasks on each
development period.

1) The development is the result of interaction

between maturation and learning
maturation addressed to the readiness of the

children and obtained from himself

Learning is an activity that comes from
training and efforts
The forms: Imitation, Identification,
Training, Trial and Error

2) The pattern of development can be

general / special
The pattern of development have similarities

and unpredictable
Development occurs from general to specific
The development runs continuously and
discontinuous

3) There are individual differences

in the development
The cause of the difference due to the

interaction between the factors within the

individual (potential) and outside the
individual
Factors outside the individual: the home
environment, parenting, home atmosphere
and living environment, cultural
environment, etc..

4) There are periods in the

development pattern
Prenatal Period (from conception 9 months

in the womb)
Infancy period (born 2 weeks)
Baby period (2 weeks 2 years)

4) There are periods in the

development pattern
Children period (2 years 11/12 years)
Teen period (12 years 21 years)
Adolescense period (21 years 60 years)
Old period (60 years above).

5) There are developmental tasks on

each development period
The task of development is strongly influenced
by cultural values
Failure to meet the developmental tasks will
result in unhappiness
This failure inhibits the next developmental
tasks period.

Why do we need developmental

assessment?
to know the individual progress
to understand the effectiveness of learning
as a guide for parents and other educators in

guiding their students

Assessment must be
Valid
Educative
Fair
comprehensive

The successful Assessment

Having a clear purpose
Information gathered during the process
Using a variety of tools and methods
Using a collaborative approach
Have a recording system
Adaptation on assessments when necessary
Have special time to analyze

The process
1. What information do we need?
The attitude of the child
Children knowledge and skill

2. Ways to collect the data

Focus on the observation
Product
interview
From the children, parents, peers, etc.

3. Data collection through:

Focused-observation formal & informal
Product Self assessment, result
task, test, questionnaire, rubric
conversation conference, interview

Self assessment: Reflection

learn human development is very
important to understand how the child
learns at school.
As an educator, sometimes I feel
frustated in dealing with children who
are very difficult to handle.
Many problems should be solved. By the
end I would understand this problem
after I read and discuss about the
human development.

The development of social emotional,

physical, and intellectual of a child
must Perkembangan be equal.
In Indonesian education system,
mostly schools develop the
intellectual development onlu, and
pay less attention on other aspects.
A school will feel super if the
students gets high scores in the test.

Theories of child development from

john Locke ,Rousseau give me
confidence about what I am having
now. Their theories help me in
seeing the child development.

The interesting lesson is when I am

learniing about the grade promotion.
Some opinions, as I believe by the
nativist, remediationist, diagnostic
perspective & interactionist, really
help me in giving explanation to
parents when giving information
whether their children go to the next
grade or not.

Remembering this information

is very important for educators
and parents.
I must prepare myself to share
what I get to change their
paradigm about children
development.

What shall we put in while

writing reflection?
Information obtained during the study
Opinions on the information obtained
Feelings toward what being / has been

studied
What other information you want to know?

Self Assessment

Self Assessment

4. How data should be written?

Anecdotal notes
Checklists

5. What do we do with information?

relates with the research
making decision
overview on conclusions
Focus on the treatment decision
Making treatment planning

6. How to share information

Report
Portfolio
learning process
conference
communication book

Portfolio
1. to reflect what have been studied and gained

by the students in a certain period of time.

2. Direct evidence; collected works best child in
the learning process

3. Portfolio is a child learning process

4. Teachers know the progress of their students,
students learn more effectively, and parents
involved in the child learning process.

5. Assessment given by the teacher is based

on the students need for their appropriate
corrective.
6. A student portfolio may differ from other
students

Examination , test, quiz

Exam - form a comprehensive test, given at

the moment the end of an activity /

semesters
Test-limited in the field, focusing on the
main aspects of the subject matter.
Quiz - very restricted, completed in 15

minutes or less.

Strategy Test can

become measurement on what is measured
Have items corresponding to the results
Have appropriate level of difficulty
Have appropriate of long and limited time
Have the appropriate format and design

Have appropriate assessment procedures

Match the contents of learning
Valid - if the result is appropriate and useful

for making decisions about student

achievement
Reliable - carefully and consistently assess

student performance

Balanced - proportional
Have questions that measure other than memory

skills :
To measure knowledge (common terms, facts,
principles, procedures - the definition, description,
identification),
To measure comprehension (understanding of
facts and principles, the interpretation of the
material-explanation, differentiate, to give an
example)

To measure application (solving problems,

the application of concepts, principles apply
to new situations, demonstrations, solving,
and relationships)
To measure analysis (the ability to
distinguish between fact and conclusions illustrations, diagrams, and other)

To measure the synthesis of (Solving problems

through creative thinking, integrated learning models / patterns, explanations, planning)
To measure evaluation (convicted and assessing compare, infer, interpret)

Type of test
multiple choices:

mengukur keduanya pengetahuan &

konsep yg kompleks, tes bagus ini
sulit dibuatnya, ttp penilaiannya
mudah & dapat dipercaya.

Rudi wants to buy a camera, a tripod, an

types because on the test we can guess

unintentionally and can produce half the
correct answer.
The alternative: add a column to explain
