SEWA
The Maharashtra & Goa Circle of Uninor initiated the program SEWA, in association
with Hope for the Children Foundation.
These women are under-privileged, single mothers or HIV positive. Uninor trains and
empowers them to sell Uninor SIM cards, activations and recharges as mobile
retailers, thereby earning additional revenue with a weekly or monthly commission.
In addition to training their sales skills, Uninor has also committed to holding regular
counseling and training sessions on grooming and personality development so that
the SEWA women can not only stand on their own and look after the education of
their children and needs of the family, but also increase their self-respect and selfconfidence in society.

Dial
In collaboration with a local NGO, Uninors Bihar and Jharkhand Circle has set up an
innovative outbound call centre at Patna where 38 women from impoverished areas
were trained and inducted as tele-callers.
This centre, which has been running since 2010, has since employed young women
who been able to generate livelihood for themselves and support their
families. These young women in the age group of 22-25 promote and up-sell Uninor
products in the Bihar circle. Some of these women are the sole providers for their
families. This project not only offers livelihood opportunities to local women but is
also spreading awareness and support on handling mobile technology.
