function of the
Legislature
A legislature is a governmental deliberative body with the power
to adopt laws. Legislatures are known by many names including
parliament, general assembly, senate, or congress. In
parliamentary systems of government, the legislature is formally
supreme and appoints the executive. In presidential systems of
government, the legislature is considered a branch of government
which is equal to the executive.

Makes all laws.


Controls all the money, taxes, borrows, and sets the budget
(with exception of unappropriated spending by central bank).
Has sole power to declare war.
Oversees, investigates, and makes the rules for the
government and its officers.
Confirms the heads of the executive branch.
Confirms federal judicial appointments.
Ratifies treaties.

Function of the
The Union Executive consists of the President of India, the
Executive
Vice-President and the Council of Ministers headed by the
Prime Minister.

It is a Branch of the government which Enforce Laws.


It also see to it that people follows those laws.
Declares states of emergency and publishes
regulations and executive orders .
Appoints judges and other executive heads with the
advice and consent of the Senate .
Has the power to grant pardons for crimes against the
United States .

Function of the
Judiciary
Judiciary is the third organ of the government. It plays an
important role in protecting the rights and freedom of the
citizens. It also plays a significant role in analyzing and
interpreting the provisions of laws and the Constitution .
It Insures that the government is run according to the
Laws.
It is to protect the Rights and Liberty of the people in
the country.
It provides projection against legislature, Executive or
Individuals.
It has a power to Judicial Review. (to review laws passed
by the legislature and orders made by executive are not
according to the constitution they are then declare illegal
by the Judiciary.)
Violation of laws is Punishable by Judiciary (Criminal
disputes) resolve by the Judiciary.

Conclus
Power is sharedion
among different organs of

government, such as the legislature, executive


and judiciary. This is called horizontal distribution
of power because it allows different organs of
government placed at the same level to exercise
different power. This ensures that none of the
organ can exercise unlimited power. Each organ
checks the other. This results in a balance of
power among various institutions. In a democracy,
even though ministers and government officials
exercise power, they are responsible to the
parliament or state Assemblies. Similarly,
although judges are appointed by the executive,
they can check the functioning of executive or
