Decision of the Supreme Council At its twenty-second Muscat 2010
Supreme Council of the Gulf, has considered the recommendations of the
Ministerial Council at its eighty-first preparatory round approving the
recommendation of the Committee for Planning and Development at its tenth
meeting on the standardization of time periods for general censuses in the
countries of the Council, and to achieve the integration of statistical activities of the
GCC countries and the cost savings, and has decided that:
Each of the Member States should conduct census in 2010, and standardize
periods of general censuses to be held in every ten years.

government agencies to extract the

Compared to the databases with the census requirements of the


United Nations, General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council
and the League of Arab States.

Objective
Collect information required for the census, in respect of the
data which are not available in administrative records.
Evaluation of data on household size, current employment
status & highest educational level achieved for their accuracy.
Steps
About 15000 families has been selected from the Central
Population Registry database as a framework for a sample
survey that covered Bahraini, non-Bahraini and collective
households.
Each governorate was a stratum. Samples were proportionally
allocated to each substratum of Bahraini, non-Bahraini and
collective households.
Samples were selected in a systematic manner after
arranging the households as per their size.

Field works

1.

Indicate that the household composition surveyed is different from the


data base on the day of enumeration. Some cases were found to be
like:

Addition of servants who were not issued with a personal number.


Some individuals move to another address housing, without informing &
changing the address with the CPR.

2. Show that the number of households in house as per the survey is


different from the number of households in actual census .
3. Collective households have been changed to private households.
4. Show that some of the characteristics of education and the workforce for
some individuals in survey is different from what the actual census is
recorded such as employees or temporary staff who have not been
modified their records for the time of enumeration.
