Introduction:
The Healthcare industry is among the most information
intensive industries.
It has been estimated that an acute care hospital may
generate five terabytes of data a year.
The ability to use these data to extract useful
information for quality healthcare is crucial.

Introduction(Continued)
We used data mining technique to diagnose diabetes.
On the basis of this diagnosis doctor can have clear
view of the patients condition.

For this purpose, we have analyzed the data of different

patients who suffers from diabetes. Data was obtained
from Pima Indians Diabetes Database of National
Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
It includes their full name, gender, medical history,
symptoms, attributes and classes.

Existing System:
There exist several Medical Diagnosis Systems. They
help in early detection of diseases.
There exist some Diagnosis System . They are utilized in
hospitals. To present the idea of Medical Diagnosis
Systems three sample ones are described:
HELP.
DX plain.
ERA.

Draw Backs In Existing System

The main draw back of these systems is the accuracy
of their prediction.
As human life is very precious and we cannot put
human life in danger at any cost.

Proposed System:
We have applied data mining techniques to classify Diabetes Clinical data
and predict the likelihood of a patient being affected with Diabetes or not.
The training dataset used for data mining classification was the Pima
Indians Diabetes Database of National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive
and Kidney Diseases from UCI Machine Learning Repository.
The dataset contains 768 record samples, each having 8 attributes. We
used this dataset for our classification exercise, as the data is complete
with no missing values.

PROPOSED SYSTEM DESIGN :

Scope:
This project is a database project with a website
Interface.
This system assist doctor in diagnosing diabetes on the
basis of symptoms that are told by the patients using
data mining techniques.
This will also help doctor to see other aspects of
diabetes.

Objectives
The present work is intended to meet the following objectives:
1. Present a Decision Tree and Nave Bayes model for diabetes
prediction in pregnant women.
2. Summarize Diabetes types, risk factors, symptoms and diagnosis.
3. Identify and discuss the fields benefits to the society along with
effective application.

Features Of proposed System

Patient can view his/her medical record.
He can make appointment with the doctor.
Doctor can diagnose diabetes on the basis of previous
record.

OVERVIEW OF DIABETES
Diabetes is a disease that occurs when the insulin
production in the body is inadequate.
Or the body is unable to use the produced insulin in a
proper manner, as a result, this leads to high blood
glucose.
The body cells break down the food into glucose and
this glucose needs to be transported to all the cells of
14

Types of Diabetes
Type 1:
Though there are only about 10% of diabetes patients have this form of diabetes. In
this type of diabetes, the pancreatic cells that produce insulin have been destroyed by
the defense system of the body.
Type 2:
This type accounts for almost 90% of the diabetes cases and commonly called the
adult-onset diabetes or the non-insulin dependent diabetes. Majority of the Type 2
diabetes patients have border line diabetes or the Pre-Diabetes, a condition where the
blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not as high as a diabetic patient.
15

Types(continued)
Gestational diabetes:
It is a type of diabetes that tends to occur in
pregnant women due to the high sugar levels as the
pancreas dont produce sufficient amount of insulin.

Conclusion
The automatic diagnosis of diabetes is an important real-world medical problem.
Detection of diabetes in its early stages is the key for treatment.
This project shows how Decision Trees and Nave Bayes are used to model
actual diagnosis of diabetes for local and systematic treatment.
along with presenting related work in the field. Experimental results show the
effectiveness of the proposed model.
The performance of the techniques was investigated for the diabetes
diagnosisproblem.

18

Future Work
In future it is planned to gather the information from
different locales over the world.
Make amore precise and general prescient model for
diabetes conclusion.
The work can be extended and improved for the
automation of diabetes analysis.
