INTRODUCTION
Indian Oil Corporation Limited, is an Indian
state-owned oil and gas corporation with its
headquarters in New Delhi, India. The
company is the world's 83rd largest public
corporation, according to the Fortune Global
500 list, and the largest public corporation in
India when ranked by revenue.
It is one of the seven Maharatna status
companies of India, apart from Coal India
Limited, Steel Authority of India Limited.
PIPELINE DIVISION
Anoil depotis an industrial facility
for the storage of oil from which
theseproductsare
usually
transported to end users or further
storage facilities. An oil depot
typically has tankage, either above
ground or underground, and oil
gantries for the discharge of
products intowagon, tankers or
pipelines.

BOILERS
Barauni refinery has 5 boilers. Four
boilers are of 75 ton and one boiler
is of 150 ton. To produce steam on a
large
volume
Barauni
refinery
haswatertube boiler. In water
tube boiler water circulates in
tubes heated externally by the fire.
Furnace
oil
is
used
inside
thefurnace, creating hot gas which
heats water.
Boiler mounting
Mainly seven mounting are required and
essential to a Boiler:
Water level indicator (water gauge)
Main steam stop valve
Pressure gauge
Feed check valve
Fusible plug
Blow down valve. (Blow off cock)
Safety valve
Boiler Accessories
These are auxiliary parts required for steam
boilers for their proper operation and to
increased efficiency of the boilers. Boilers
Accessories are as under:
Feed pump
Injector
Economizer
Air preheater
Super heater
Steam separator
Steam trap
FEED PUMP
The feed pump is a pump which is used to deliver
feed water to the boiler.
Double feed pump is commonly employed for
medium size boilers.
TURBINE
Aturbineis a rotary mechanical device
that extractsenergyfrom afluidflow and
converts it into usefulwork. A turbine is
aturbo machinewith at least one moving
part called a rotor assembly, which is a
shaft or drum withbladesattached.
Moving fluid acts on the blades so that
they move and impart rotational energy
to the rotor. Early turbine examples
arewindmillsandwaterwheels.
