Discuss Forte client and server architecture

Forte Introduction

|3

Forte
Forte is an automatic RF optimization solution designed to
improve the quality, capacity, and coverage in
GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks.

It leverages live network statistics (mobile measurements) to

provide an accurate network model used as a basis to
produce an optimization plan.

Fortes architecture enables engineers to concurrently plan

complex dual-band, underlay-overlay schemes and
hierarchical networks.

Forte Introduction

|4

Key Features
Multi-Vendor supports Ericsson, Siemens, Alcatel, Nokia,
Huawei, Nortel, Motorola, and ZTE.

Friendly GUI wizard-guided workflows to facilitate

analyses and optimizations.

Network Quality and Performance Analysis KPI-based

performance evaluation of the network.

Optimization Engine define optimization goals based on

network KPIs, to optimize the handovers and frequencies.

Forte Introduction

|5

Key Features (cont.)

Analysis Reports Excel-based detailed reports for
analysis and troubleshooting.

Recurring Scheduling automate analysis and

optimization tasks to run on a recurring basis.

Google Earth Integration Display map and

calculation layers in Google Earth.

Forte Introduction

|6

Forte Analysis Tools

Quality Evaluator (QE) Advanced simulator, performs an
analysis of GSM network quality and enables comparing
different frequency plans to select the best possible
frequency plan for implementation.

Design-Analysis Detects network design issues like

Overshooters or Cross-feeders based on a precise network
model.

Forte Optimization Plans

Fortes optimization engine is built on a powerful

algorithm to ensure the best possible optimization
results:

Handover (Neighbor List) Plan identifies and recommends

HO additions and removes redundant relations to reduce the
number of dropped calls and the handover failure rate.

Frequency Plan instant allocation of low interference

frequencies for existing sectors and automatic frequency
planning for complex network architecture.

Ran Features Plan local optimization of parameters related

to handovers, such as GPRS/EDGE, traffic load balancing,
maximizing overall capacity.

Input Data Sources and Types

Forte uses the following data to enable analysis and
optimization:

Network Configuration
Physical data (coordinates.txt)
BSS configuration sites, sectors, neighbor list, etc.

Performance KPIs

Forte Architecture
Servers
Automate all data collection and preparation activities
for Forte clients.

Enable easy, GUI-based administration of the

data preparation process.

Manage users, networks, and security.

Forte Clients
User-friendly, wizard-driven interface.
Deliver full functionality: extensive analysis and
best-of-breed optimization.

Forte Introduction

|11

Server Benefits
Eliminates time spent by engineers defining and running a
model and optimization process.

Increased application availability by providing all required

data in a timely and orderly manner.

Provides a single data source for all engineers within a single

market.

Shortens the time required to integrate new network

elements into the data collection process.

Provides visibility into the data collection process through a

GUI-based administration application.

Forte Introduction

|12

Forte Client
By default, when launching Forte, the application
automatically opens the last network on which you were
working.

When launching Forte for the first time, you are required
to set the path to Fortes local database.

The local database is the central data repository used

by
all Forte modules.

All project data, including modeling results and

calculation results, is stored automatically in the DB
folder.
