General Guidelines:
1. Mass treatment is the primary intervention
for Schistosomiasis endemic areas to be
done yearly in the month of July.
2. Mass treatment shall be done for the entire
month simultaneous in all endemic areas
for Schistosomiasis covering school
children and the population, age 5-65 y.o.
completing no less than 85% of the target
population of the area covered.
The mass treatment shall be conducted until
the elimina-tion level is achieved(less than1%

guidelines
3. Mass treatment centers such as LGU
health facilities, schools, barangay multi
purpose centers and other facilities that may
be tapped in this month long activity.
4. The LGUs local health physicians and
staff and volunteer workers shall take the
lead in all these month long activity.

Treatment
Praziquantel 600 mgs - drug of choice
