Merging distance and max distance

for confused faces: FLUENT for
CATIA will ignore any gaps or
overlaps between faces, which are
larger than these values.
Useful for flow volume creation
with dirty geometry.

Mesh size multiplication factor: A

Multiplier which reduces or
increases the default Min Mesh
Size and Mesh Size in the Mesh
Definition dialog box.
By adjusting this factor, users can
customize behavior of the resulting
mesh resolution for a particular
slider-bar location.

Advanced mesh settings will be

discussed in the meshing lecture.

File Management

Training Manual

Before starting computations, a subdirectory called Analysis1 is

automatically created in the path set for saving FLUENT solver files.
In a subdirectory Fluent_Solution_1, the following files are created:

.cas (Fluent case file),

.dat (Fluent data file),
.jou (Fluent journal file),
.fv (Fieldview file) (some cases)
.output, .res, .scm, and .ip, etc.

The complete path to files are saved for these files. If you move them
manually to another location, FFC will not be able to read them again.
This can be avoided by using File Save Management

Save Management

Training Manual

File Save Management allows you to identify the files modified after
the previous save (and to store them in a new directory location)

The Save As button can be used to save files at a particular location.

The Propagate Directory button becomes accessible once you have
saved the file(s) to a new directory.
Click this button to save the corresponding linked files to the new
location.

Additional File Management Features

Training Manual

File Save
This opens the Select File dialog box in which you specify the
directory path for saving the following files :
Analysis1.CATAnalysis
filename_FluentPart.CATPart
filename_FluentProduct.CATProduct

Note that File Save Management is recommended for saving files

The results and computation files are saved in the temporary directory
specified in the Toolsoptions dialog box

File Send To
This allows you to send only the selected files to a location per your
requirement. For example, you can save all files to a single directory of
your choice or send them to another computer
