Seen as a renewal of science education at the level of primary


and secondary education around the world

Therefore, science education should be able to provide


supplies to the students, in order to live in a decent
environment in accordance with the development of
science and technology

UNESCO "1983" suggests science


education in schools should act as:
Help learners develop intellectual skills by way of
logical thinking and problem solving way.
Help learners know and understand about science
and technology in improving quality of life.
Help learners know and understand about science
and technology in improving quality of life.
Help learners acquire supplies, such as the
principles of science and technology are expected
to be encountered in later life.
Help learners to master other subjects, especially
English and mathematics.

National teacher association (NSTA) in the United States


have identified the things that include STM, ie ..
1. Learners identify the problem to the environment.

2. The use of local natural resources.


3. The active participation of learners in look for information
that can be applied to resolve the problems faced in the real
environment.
4. Time continuous learning, both classroom, outside the
classroom or in school, or outside of school hours.

6. The subject matter is not just a concept that must be mastered by
students but more than that.
7. Completion issues emphasized on the use of process skills by
learners.
