Smiljan, Austria (now Croatia

Early life

1875
starts
technical
schooling in Graz, Austria
for three years

Quits school and moves to

Maribor, Slovenia

Starts
Charles-Ferdinand
University in Prague in 1880

United states

6 June 1884 first arrived in the US in New York City

Edison hires Tesla to work for his Edison Machine

Works

Offered 1.1 million dollars if he redesigned

Edison's inefficient motor and generators

Quits working for Edison and begins to dig ditches

Middle years

1886, Tesla forms Tesla Electric

Light & Manufacturing

Initial financial investors relieve

Tesla of his duties at the
company

1886 to 1887 works as a

common laborer to raise capital
for his next project

New ideas

1880 constructs alternating current induction motor

and the Tesla coil
Begins working with George Westinghouse at
Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company's
Pittsburgh labs
Experiments with X-rays, mechanical resonance, radio
technology, radio controlling of a boat model

1893 World's fair

AC current was used

to
illuminate
the
exhibition

Niagara falls

Wins the contract to

light Niagara Falls with
AC electricity

November 16, 1896 first

power reaches Buffalo

Colorado springs

1899, Tesla begins research in Colorado Springs,

Colorado

conducting wireless telegraphy experiments

observed unusual signals that he later thought may

have been evidence of extraterrestrial radio
communications

Left January 1900

A weapon to end the war

On 11 July 1934 the

headline on the front page
of the New York Times
read, "TESLA, AT 78, BARES
NEW 'DEATH BEAM.'"

death

Died some time between the evening of 5 January and the

morning of 8 January 1943, at the age of 86.

Tesla's funeral took place on 12 January 1943, at the Cathedral

of Saint John the Divine in Manhattan, New York City.

His body was cremated and his ashes taken to Belgrade,

Yugoslavia in 1957. The urn was placed in the Nikola Tesla
Museum.

THOMAS EDISON DC
CURRENT

Born on February 11,

1847, in Milan, Ohio,
Thomas Edison rose
from humble
beginnings to work as
an inventor of major
technology.

THOMAS EDISON DC
CURRENT

Setting up a lab in
Menlo Park, some of the
products he developed
included the telegraph,
phonograph, electric
light bulb, alkaline
storage batteries and
Kinetograph (a camera
for motion pictures).

THOMAS EDISON DC
CURRENT

Thomas Alva Edison

was one of the
inventors that
contributed most to
change the life of
modern man. More than
a thousand inventions
patented dramatically
transformed the
customs and habits of
industrialized societies.

Who is DC?
Is the unidirectional flow of
electric charge. Direct current is
produced by sources such as
batteries, power supplies,
thermocouples, solar cells, or
dynamos. Direct current may
flow in a conductor such as a
wire, but can also flow through
semiconductors, insulators, or
even through a vacuum as in
electron or ion beams.

DC applications
Domestic
DC

is commonly found in
many extra-low voltage
applications and some
low-voltage applications,
especially where these are
powered by batteries or
solar power systems (since
both can produce only
DC).
Most

electronic circuits
require a DC power supply.

DC applications

Applications using fuel

cells (mixing hydrogen
and oxygen together
with a catalyst to
produce electricity and
water as byproducts)
also produce only DC.

Light aircraft electrical

systems are typically
12 V or 28 V DC.

Conclusions

A better understanding
of electrical currents
have in a home can
help avoid risks and
take some precautions.

The dc current is
immersed in all
electronic products we
have at home, the dc
current is present all
around us.

DC APPLICATIONS

Most electronic devices we use in our daily

lives (computers, tablets, mobile phones, etc.
make use of this type of system.

AC APPLICATIONS

For

the use of electronic appliances

(toaster, blender, etc.).
To

create electromagnetic
(electromagnetic magnets).
For

communication (data are

transmitted by alternating current).

The benefits of the AC are as

follows

Increases or decreases the voltage or

voltage through transformers.

It is transported over long distances

with little energy loss.

It is possible to convert it into direct

current with ease.

In that favors the automotive

industry the development of
alternating current?

With the advancement of the current

and the change of DC to AC, the
automobile
industry
suffered
a
significant change in production by
Toyota Development of a system of
mass production, which allowed at that
time, facilitate the production of
vehicles in lower possible time.
