INTRODUCTION
OPERATING SYSTEM
An operating system is an integrated set of programs
that is used to manage the various resources
It is designed to support the activities of a computer
installation.
Its prime objective is to improve the performance and
efficiency of a computer system and increase facility, the
ease with which a system can be used.
it makes the computer system user friendly.

Batch processing
Batch processing is the oldest method of running programs that
is still being employed by many data processing centres for
processing their jobs.i .in it each operator prepare his program
off line and submit it to the computer centre.
Spooling
The processing speed of a computer
system can be further increased
by a technique known as spooling.
Multiprogramming
to over come the problem of
underutilisation of main memory and CPU.
Multiprocessing
it is the simultaneous execution of two or
more processes by a computer system
having more then one CPU.
Time sharing
this term is used to describe a processing
system with a number of independent usable
stations like low speed,online.
