Introduction
Hal is based in Banglore, India. It is one of
Asias largest aerospace company.
It works under the management of the
Indian Ministry of Defense.
It is a public sector company mainly
involved is aerospace industry.
It has several facilities throughout India
including Nasik, Kanpur, Koraput and
Lucknow.
The German engineer Kurt Tank designed
the first aircraft in India.

History

HAL was established an Hindustan Aircraft in


Bangalore in 1940 under the Mysore Companies
Act.
The Indian Government bought one third stake in
the company by April 1941.
In 1942, it bought out stakes of Walchand
Hirachand, himself and other promoters and the
nationalized the company
In 1943, the Bangalore factory was handed over
to United States Army Air Force but still used
Hindustan Aircraft management.
After independence in 1947, the management
was passed over to the Indian Government.
