Audience
Audience means the one who will read your
report.
Who are you writing for?
Who is going to read this report and why?
Knowing your audience will help you
determine how long your report should be,
how it should be presented, and what level
of terminology you should use to best attract
and maintain the interest of your reader.
FEATURES OF A GOOD
REPORT
Keep it short and to the point.
Many people have trouble with run-on
sentences, creating ambiguity by
attaching many ideas together with large
combinations of commas, semicolons and
dashes. Complete one thought and close
out your sentence with end punctuation.
Words for words sake.
Avoid extraneous words, and
parentheses that do not add to your
point.

Uses of illustrations.
In the realm of illustrations and photographs, the types run from
minimal detail to maximal. Diagrams are a more abstract,
schematic view of things, for example, a wiring diagram of a clock
radio; it hardly resembles the actual physical thing at all. And of
course photographs provide the most detail of all. These graphics,
supplying gradations of detail as they do, have their varying uses.

Formatting Requirements
Labels Just about any illustration
should contain labels words and
phrases with pointers to the parts of
the things being depicted.
Keys If the illustration has certain
shadings, colors, line styles, or other such
details that have a special meaning in the
illustration, these should be indicated in a
key an area in an unused corner of the
illustration that deciphers their meaning.
