INTRODUCTION

EXAMPLE OF
IMMERSIVE MULTIMEDIA
IN ENTERTAINMENT

As the military's enthusiasm for virtual

reality training continues to grow, the
Army's got a new plan to make the programs
freakily immersive: National Defense
magazine is reporting that the Army wants
to give every soldier a digital doppelganger
-- a custom avatar they can use throughout
their stints in the military, and in myriad
virtual training environs, from urban combat

Paris 3D Saga is an educative and entertaining

journey in the history of Paris beginning 20
centuries ago. In the tour you can relive historical
moments like the French revolution and the
construction of the Tour Eiffell.
Dassault Systmes releasing three ways to
experience the Paris 3D Saga: a live event (if you
have the chance to be in Paris tonight), an online
3D experience, as well as an iPad app.

Although mostly known for its application in the

entertainment industry the real promise lies in such
felds as medicine, science, engineering, oil
exploration, data visualization and the military to
name just a few.
As 3D and immersive technology becomes more
integrated and available for a wide range of
applications. It l requires well-designed user
interfaces and innovative content for the next
generation of computer games and integrated
technology like mobile devices, distributed web

Virtual reality systems can simulate everything from

a walk-through of a building prior to construction to
simulations of aircraft fight and three dimensional
computer games.
Immersive technologies and virtual reality are
powerful and compelling computer applications by
which humans can interface and interact with
computer generated environments in a way that
mimics real life sense engagement.

These terms refer to computer-generated simulation

of reality with physical, spatial and visual
dimensions. This interactive technology is used by
architects, science and engineering researchers, and
the arts, entertainment and video games industry.

IN THIS CHAPTER ,WE DISCUSSED THE

INTERFACES TECHNOLOGIES FOR 3D
SCENE ACQUISITION AND
PREPRODUCTION. WE SAW THAT AN
IMPORTANT CUE USED TO INFERDEPTION
AND THUS 3D REPRODUCTION IS
DISPARITY. DISPARITY IS INFERRED BY
ALTERNATING THE LEFT EYE IMAGES FROM
DIFFERENT PROSPECTIVE. ANOTHER WAY
TO INFER THE 3D SCENE IS USING
DISPARITY TO ENCODE DISPARITY IN THE
GRAY IMAGE VALUE. THIS IS FUNDAMENTAL
FOR TECHNIQUES EMPLOYING VIDEO FOR
3D SCENE RECONSTRUCTION AND
WILL BE DISCUSSED IS TO ENCODE
DISPARITY IN THE GRAY IMAGE VALUE. THIS
IS FUNDAMENTAL FOR TECHNIQUES
EMPLOYING VIDEO FOR 3D SCENE
RECONSTRUCTION AND
WILL BE DISCUSSED IN THE NEXT
CHAPTER.

Angry Birds is a video game franchise created by Finnish computer game developer Rovio
Entertainment. Inspired by Crush the Castle,[2] the frst game in the series was initially released
in December 2009 for Apple iOS.[3] As of October 2010, 12 million copies of the game were
purchased from App Store.[4] The company then released ports of the game for other
touchscreen smartphone operating systems, including Android, Symbian and Windows Phone.
The franchise has since been expanded to include video game console and PC ports.
Angry Birds has been praised for its successful combination of fun gameplay, comical style, and
low price. Its popularity led to many spin-offs, versions of Angry Birds being created for PCs and
gaming consoles, a market for merchandise featuring its characters, a televised cartoon series,
and an upcoming feature flm. In January 2014 there had been over two billion downloads across
all platforms, including both regular and special editions:[5][6] as of July 2015, the series games
have been downloaded more than three billion times collectively,[7] making it the most
downloaded freemium game series of all time. The original Angry Birds has been called "one of
the most mainstream games out right now",[8] "one of the great runaway hits of 2010",[9] and
"the largest mobile app success the world has seen so far".[10] An animated feature flm based
on the series will be released by Columbia Pictures on May 20, 2016, and the frst main-series
