STEP BY STEP SOLUTION

CHS NC II

1. CHECK THE FF. CONNECTION OF


CABLES AT THE BACK OF THE
SYSTEM UNIT.

Keyboard (purple)
Mouse (green)
VGA Chord
Power Chord
UTP Cable

2. TURN-ON/RESTART THE COMPUTER

If no display, troubleshoot the computer and check the following:

Make sure that the monitor is on.


Check the power source
Check the memory and other components inside the system unit.

3. ACCESS & LOAD THE BIOS DEFAULT


SETTINGS

Access BIOS by pressing F2 or Del


Load the BIOS Default Settings by pressing F9 or F5
Save BIOS Default Settings & Exit by pressing F10

4. CHECK THE DESKTOP SETTINGS

Screen Resolution Solution: change to the appropriate resolution


Rotated Screen Solution: CTRL + ALT + Arrow keys
Fake Desktop Solution: press Windows key / change desktop
background
Hidden Taskbar Solution: right-click taskbar> properties> uncheck
auto-hide taskbar

5. CHECK THE MOUSE

Mouse is not working/totally dead Solution: check the


connection, restart your computer, check for the damaged pins
Switched primary button to secondary button Solution: go to
Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Mouse > uncheck switch
primary button to secondary button
Very slow movement of mouse pointer Solution: go to Control
Panel > Hardware and Sound > Mouse> Pointer Options (this is a tab)
> in the motion panel, drag the sliding bar at the middle

6. CHECK THE KEYBOARD

Keyboard is not working/totally dead

Solution: check the cable connection, restart your computer, uncheck


sticky keys, toggle keys, and filter keys by going to control panel > Ease
of Access > Ease of Access Center > click the link Make the keyboard
easier to use> uncheck sticky keys ,toggle keys and filter keys

7. CHECK THE QUOTA MANAGEMENT

Go to My Computer > Right click Drive C: > properties > select Quota
tab> Uncheck Enable Quota Management > Apply > OK

8. CHECK THE GPEDIT.MSC

Access is denied
Solution: Go My Computer> Local Disk C:>
Windows > System 32> Tools (menu) > View (tab)> select show
hidden files, folders, and drives & uncheck (hide empty drives in the
computer folder) & (hide extensions for known file types)> Apply >
OK>Look/Open Group Policy Folder> right click gpt.ini> properties>
uncheck read-only>Apply>Continue>Ok
Check for enabled/disabled policies

9. CHECK THE SERVICES.MSC


Check status of the following important services:

Network Connections
Print Spooler
Server
Workstation
Windows Management Instrumentation
Help and Support

Error 1079Solution: Go to logon(tab)> select local system account>

Apply
Error 1068Solution: check for the dependencies> start the services
where current service depends on
Error 1058Solution: Go to logon(tab)>enable hardware profile>Apply

10. RESTART YOUR COMPUTER AFTER


CONFIGURING THE SERVICES.MSC
Go to start > select restart OR press restart button

11. CONFIGURE THE IP ADDRESS


Go to run ncpa.cpl> Right-click and select properties> Select
Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)> Select properties
button > Select Use the following IP Address > Click close >
Click ok.

12. TEST THE CONNECTION

Ping the server ex. ping 192.168.1.100

13. ACCESS THE SERVER SHARED


FOLDER

To access, go to run > type \\server-ip ex. \\192.168.1.100

14. MAP THE SERVER SHARED


FOLDER

To Map, right-click on the shared folder> select Map Network Drive>


select Drive Letter ex. Y >click Finish.

15. CREATE YOUR OWN FOLDER INSIDE THE


SERVER SHARED FOLDER WITH YOUR LAST
NAME AS YOUR FOLDER NAME.

16. MAKE A BACKUP OF MY DOCUMENTS


AND NAME YOUR BACKUP WITH YOUR LAST
NAME.

17. USING NOTEPAD, WRITE THE FOLLOWING


SYSTEMS SPECIFICATIONS:

Processor type and Speed


Memory Capacity
Hard Disk Capacity and its partition
Display Adapters
Network Adapters
BIOS Version
MAC Address of your PC
OS Name and Version
Application Installed

18. COPY THE BACKUP AND SYSTEM


SPECS TO YOUR FOLDER.

19. ACCESS AND CONNECT TO THE


SERVER SHARED PRINTER

To Access, go to run > type \\server-ip ex. \\192.168.1.100


To connect, right-click on the shared printer > select Connect > Yes

20. ADD A PRINTER AND PRINT THE


SYSTEM SPECS
