What is Synapse?
In the nervous system, a
synapse is a structure that permits a
neuron to pass an electrical or
chemical signal to another neuron.
INTRODUCTION
SyNAPSE is a DARPA program that
aims to develop electronic
neuromorphic machine technology.
It is an attempt to build a new kind of
cognitive computer with similar form,
function, and architecture to the
mammalian brain.
Such artificial brains would be used in
robots and smartphones.
It consists of
5.4 - Billion Transistors
256 - million neural connections
1 - million Programmable neuron
259 - million SYNAPSE
4096 - individual synaptic cores
MONKEY BRAIN
Team mapped out the wiring diagram of a monkey
brain in 2011 and it produced 2011 Neural core.
In 2014 they mapped out the circuit for human
brain.
In current chip contain more than 4000 of these
neural core.
True North was able to recognize things like
people, car, Buses, and trucks.
USES
Google Map can give directions from Point A to B, but
Synapses show if there is a potholes along with the
routes.
Synapse is fit in the palm of the hand , without the
need of Wi-Fi to use it.
It is 176,000 times more efficient than a modern CPU.
Synapse consume thousand times more energy to
perform the same task as a Human brain.
