HISTORY OF INDIAN RAILWAY

Railway was introduced in madras in 1832.

First train in indian railway between Mumbai to Thana on 16th

april 1853.

Now 17 zones in indian railways.

Jaipur junction established in 1875.

NWR zone made in 2002.

Indian railway is second biggest electrified system in the world

after Russia.

INTRODUCTION
The Packaged Air Conditioner (PAC) is a modular type
completely assembled and factory gas charged with
hermetically sealed refrigerant. This design uses the
environment friendly Refrigerant R-22. equipment's
should be highly reliable, light in weight, lesser space for
air circulation

PERFORMANCE OF AIR-CONDITIONING
SYSTEMS

REFRIGERATING EFFECT:

The quantity of heat that each Kg of refrigerant absorbs from the

refrigerated space is known as the refrigerating effect.

EFFICIENCY OF REFRIGERATING MACHINE:

CO-EFFICIENT OF PERFORMANCE (C.O.P.)

The ratio of heat absorbed from the refrigerated space to
equivalent heat energy supplied to the compressor is know as
the co-efficient of performance.

TYPES OF MOTOR USED IN AC COACHES

COMPONENTS OF A/C COACHES

Compressor

Condenser unit

Evaporator unit

A/C control panel

Gauge panel

Refrigerant piping & joints

Wiring

1. COMPRESSOR

The work done due to compressor raises the temperature of the refrigerant
vapour.

2. CONDENSER

Condenser absorbed heat during the compression process. and the consists of
heat exchanger

3. EVAPORATOR UNIT

The evaporator unit consists of a thermostatic expansion valve, heat exchanger, resistance heating unit.

The thermostatic expansion valve controls quantity of high pressure liquid refrigerant

4. A/C CONTROL PANEL

The control of the air conditioning system is achieved by
means of air conditioning control panel.

5. GAUGE PANEL
Gauge panel consists of pressure gauges (HP, LP, and OP) and
pressure cut-outs to protect the compressor against.
1. HIGH PRESSURE CUT-OUT:
It is protects the compressor and piping system from damage. It is a
pressure operated switch which switches off the compressor drive
motor when the pressure exceeds a pre-set value (17.6 Kg/Cm2). The
plant cannot be restarted unless the cut-out is reset manually.
2. LOW PRESSURE CUT-OUT:
It is also a pressure operated switch similar to the H.P. cut-out
switch, but it shuts down the compressor if the suction pressure
drops down below 0.7 Kg/Cm2

6. REFRIGERANT PIPING

The refrigerant piping consists of the suction line (from the

evaporator out let to compressor inlet), discharge line (from
compressor outlet to condenser inlet) and liquid line (from the
liquid receiver to the inlet side of expansion valve).

7. WIRING

All wiring has been done by means of multi-stranded PVC

insulated copper cables to specification.

All cables have been laid on steel trough/conduits for easy

maintenance
