EFFECT OF VARIED GRID


TRAINING TECHNIQUES ON
SELECTED ENDURANCE
VARIABLES AMONG
COLLEGE MEN FOOTBALL
PLAYERS AT HYDERABAD

Grid training has been around for many years, there is very
little scientific research that has been conducted in this area. Most
of the techniques and methods being used in football originated in
track and field. Grid trainings in football are specific types of
facilitation and overload. Further these points to our concerns for
mechanics being a greater focus for sprint speed development.
Anecdotal comments from coaches and trainers range from high
praise for functional training and grid training to claim that these
techniques arent worth the time and effort to fit them into a
normal practice. Football requires unique movement skills, taps
exclusive energy mechanisms and necessitates training methods
that will enhance multi-directional proficiency. However, there
were lack of researches making a comparative effect of varied grid
training in on selected skills and endurance of variables of football
players.

Hence an investigation on these selected methods of training,


namely varied grid training on selected skills and endurance
variables among college players of Telangana is proposed in
this research. Among the many endurance variables the
investigator selected, speed endurance, muscular endurance and
cardiovascular endurance and football skill variables, such as
passing, dribbling, shooting and heading in this study.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The present investigation will contribute significantly to the field of physical


education and sports in the following ways.
1. The study may help the coaches and Physical Education Personals to train the
football players to improve the Performance related fitness components,
playing ability.
2. The findings of the study would highlight the importance of grid training for
the overall playing ability of football Players.
3. The finding of the study would be helpful to pin point which of the
experimental treatment among different grid Training is helpful for the
development of skills and endurance variables of the college men football
players.

HYPOTHESES
After going through related researches on the basis of opinion
of soccer experts and also from the experience of the scholars
as trained soccer coach, for the propose of present
investigation the following were hypothesized.
It is hypothesized that there will be significant impact on
selected skills and endurance variables such as passing,
dribbling, shooting and heading strength endurance, muscular
endurance and cardio vascular endurance in relation to varied
grid training among college men football players at Hyderabad
It is hypothesized that there will be significant differences
between selected variables among different grid training.

1. For the present study subjects are the college Foot ball
players of Hyderabad.
2. It will be conducted 0n 60 men football players of
Hyderabad.
3. The subject selected for experiment where at the age of 18
21 years.

1. The social and economical back ground and precious training of


subjects were not known.
2. Physical fitness of the subject was not known.
3. Diet habits and climatically conditions will not be considered.

Randomly selected college level 60 football players (


N=60) would be divided in four group, 2 vs 2 grid, 3
vs 3 grid, 4 vs 4 grid and control group consisting of
15 players each. The selected subject would be
measured of their skills variables and endurance
variables prior to the experimental treatment.
Experimental treatment would be 12 weeks in the
respective training and control group would not be
given any specialized training. The deference
between pre and post test scores on selected
strength variables would be the effect of the
respective training methods on selected strength
variables. To test statistical significance ANCOVA
would be employed and in all cases 0.05 levels
would be fixed to the significance.

Skill variables passing, dribbling, shooting and heading


were measured through standard tests for this purpose.
1. Speed endurance will be measured with 800 Mts
Run
2. Strength endurance will be measured with Bend
knee sit ups test
3. Cardiovascular endurance will be measured by
12 M run / walk test.
