APPLICATION OF A DC-DC BOOST

CONVERTER WITH MAXIMUM POINT

TRACKING FOR LOW POWER
THERMOELECTRIC GENERATORS

Abstract
Thermoelectric generators (TEGs) directly generate electrical power from
the geothermal/waste heat as well as contribute to efficient usage of the
energy.
TEGs cannot be operated at full capacity without additional electronic
equipments, since the internal resistances of TEGs are not equal to the
device resistances connected across TEGs.
Firstly, the pTEG has been directly charged to the battery pack, secondly it
has been charged through the improved convertor with MPPT P&O.

Conclusions
Jadi kesimpulan dari jurnal ini adalah:
The application of a DCDC boost converter with PIC16F628A microcontroller
embedded in P&O MPPT algorithm has been carried out. Firstly, when the pTEG is
connected to the battery group directly, the operating efficiency of the pTEG has
been about 55%. Secondly, when the pTEG is connected to the battery group
through the convertor, the operating efficiency of the pTEG has been about 92%.
For TEG systems, the obtained results show that usage of DCDC boost converters
with MPPT is more suitable than directly connecting to a battery pack.
