1. Briefly explain the factors
(internal and external) factors
that influence development of
this technology in Taiwan.

The increasing market value of biotechnology
products in Taiwan cannot be underestimated,
with its development underway since the 1980s.
However, despite the considerable amount of
resources and efforts committed to its
development island wide, few noteworthy
achievements have been made. Given its high
creativity value and attractive marketing features,
biotechnology will generate large revenues once
products are commercialized.

3D automation technology is the driving force
behind Taiwans online gaming sector, which is
forecasted to have a market value of $NT
533,000,000. Therefore, the domestic on-line
gaming sector must continuously acquire new
technological capabilities that are in line with the
global market demand to continually refine the
quality of on-line games.

Hospitals devote a significant amount of
their annual operating budgets to
upgrading their information network
capacity through the purchase of
advanced hardware and software.
Adopting the latest information
technologies can greatly enhance a
hospitals administrative and managerial
capabilities.

2. Point out the unique
characteristics of this
technology development in
Taiwan.

Whereas biotechnology was seldom
researched in Taiwan just a few years ago,
this multidisciplinary field is now actively
researched island wide, as evidenced by
its use in plants and animals for
agricultural production.

Through the encouragement of Taiwans
National Health Insurance Bureau, many
hospitals are incorporating a medical
information system (MIS) in daily
operations to increase the efficiency of
physicians in examining patients,
diagnosing their illnesses and prescribing
therapeutic treatment.

Since the Taiwanese government
prioritized biotechnology as a major area
of national development in 1982, many
industrial sectors have actively engaged in
related projects synergistically.
