Write in 1st person (I am passionate about, I really enjoyed studying this subject..)

Answer these questions:

What am I interested in? And Why?

What will I gain from this internship?

What are my future goals and how is this internship going to help?

If you have worked on a project, explain

Problem you were trying to solve

Techniques used did they work? If not, what else was done?

Outcome and what all did you learn!

Write about what type of problems you hope to work on. If you have one, mention it!

Always write the first draft yourself and then look at other SOPs to modify yours

Dont copy anybodys SOP!

Part 2 : Selecting a Professor! (Feb Mar)

Mail them to see if they are taking interns

Dont randomly mail anyone! Go to their web pages, read through their
research, see if you are interested in it!

Mail should be short six lines! Mention:

Who you are and what are you looking for? (Student in COEP looking for a
research internship opportunity)

What are your interests?

What aspect of the professors research you found interesting? (Very


Important!)

Mention you Dont Need Funding and you are being funded by IUSSTF!

Remember : Most of the Professors are busy, they may not reply! But, dont
get disheartened!

DAAD WISE

WISE (Working Internships in Science and


Engineering)

The programme targets Indian students pursuing a degree in the


fields of science and engineering who wish to do an internship at a
German higher education institution or at a research institute.

A research internship at a public or state-recognised higher education


institution or a non-university research institute in Germany to work
with doctoral students, scientists or professors as part of on-going
research projects.

Funding

A monthly scholarship of 650 euros for undergraduate students


(the monthly

instalment will be calculated on a daily basis, i.e.

21.70 euros per day)

A lump sum travel subsidy of 550 euros.

Payments towards health, accident and personal liability


insurance covered by DAAD.

Duration

2 to 3 months in the period between May and July. Internships of


less than two

months duration cannot be supported.

Application Requirements

Aggregate marks of 85 % and above or CGPA 8.5 / 10 and above


of completed semesters at the time of application.

Acceptance cum invitation letter from a German professor


for the internship.

The applicant has to independently search for a German


professor/ guide, under
which s/he could carry out his/her
research.

At the time of application, the applicant should already be in


possession of a valid
passport.

Applicants must have Indian nationality.

German language skills are not mandatory.

Charpak Research
Internship Program

Charpak

The Charpak scholarship program is run by the Embassy of France in


India.

This program is designed for all students of economics, engineering


and science background at the Bachelors or Masters levels planning
to pursue training in a French laboratory during their academic break
(May to July).

Benefits

Student visa fee waiver


Monthly stipend of 310 euros for maximum 3 months (May to
July) is provided by the Embassy. Labs in France provide a minimum
allowance of 508 euros/month to all
interns interning for more
than 8 weeks- kindly discuss the funding possibility directly
with
them while finalising your internship.

Medical insurance coverage

Affordable student housing guaranteed

Duration

The minimum duration of the internship must be 2 months and the


maximum must be 3 months during May to July 2015.

So how to contact professors?

1.

List down the universities of your interest in France / Germany.

2.

Start making a list of professors who are currently performing


research in your fields of interest. Dont stick to one specific field of
interest.

3.

Make a list of a few professors. Perform a detailed research about the


professors research field and his recent and most cited publications.

4.

Prepare a detailed cover letter for the purpose of contacting the


shortlisted professors.

5.

Mail the professors at appropriate time. BE CAREFUL about this.

Mitacs Globalink Research Internship

Type of Internship: GLOBALINK.

Requirements

Have a minimum of one semester and a maximum of three semesters remaining in their
program as of September 2017.

Minimum CGPA of 8/10

Be available to complete a 12-week internship, arriving in Canada between May 1 and June
30, 2017, and returning to their country of study between July 31 and September 30, 2017.

Possess a valid passport from their home country that is valid until at least January 2018.

When applying, students must select between three and seven projects from at least three
Canadian provinces.

An official transcript from the home university, in English.

At least one letter of reference from a professor or research supervisor

A CV detailing research experience
