Introduction
The demand for trackers has expanded
significantly in recent years as more
reliable and costeffective solutions come
to market.
According to a recent study by
Transparency Market Research, the global
installed capacity for solar trackers is
estimated to reach almost 9 GW by 2020.
Solar energy is a very large, inexhaustible
source of energy.

Solar energy has two other factors in

the favor.
1. Firstly, unlike fossil fuels and nuclear
power, it is environmentally clean
source of energy.
2.Secondly, it is free and available in
adequate quantities in almost all
parts of the world where people live.
Also it has no heavy mechanical
section and is free from noise.

Inovativeness of the topic

The aim of our projects is to utilize the maximum solar energy
through solar panel. For this a digital based automatic sun
tracking system is proposed. This project helps the solar power
generating equipment to get the maximum sunlight automatically
thereby increasing the efficiency of the system. The solar panel
tracks the sun from east to west automatically for maximum
intensity of light.
1. To fabricate a DC motor control interfaced with driver circuit.
2. To construct a model prototype solar cell movement system with
a mechanical assemble to move the panel from 180 E to W.
3. To design an electronic circuit to sense the intensity of light and
to control DC motor driver for the panel movement.
4. To construct an emergency light inverter circuit i.e. to operate
tube light with the help of charged battery from the solar panel.

Objective
To fabricate a DC motor control interfaced with
driver circuit.
To construct a model prototype solar cell
movement system with a mechanical assemble
to move the panel from 180 E to W.
To design an electronic circuit to sense the
intensity of light and to control DC motor driver
for the panel movement.
To construct an emergency light inverter circuit
i.e. to operate tube light with the help of
charged battery from the solar panel.

Methodology
The solar tracker system requires movement in
different directions, and uses electric motors as
prime mover, based on this; solar tracker system
motion control is simplified to an electric motor
motion control. In solar tracking system design, any
light sensitive device can be used as input sensor
unit to detect and track the sun position, based on
sensors readings, and generated sun tracking error,
the control unit generates the voltage used to
command the circuit to drive the motor, that
outputs the rotational displacement of electric
motor, which is the motion of solar tracking system.

Relvance of the topic

Energy is one of the major building blocks of modern
society and is a fundamental concept in all science and
engineering disciplines. Understanding energy
concepts and forms leads to an understanding of
energy resources and their limitations as well seeing
the full scope of the environmental consequences of
energy misuse. We live in an age of environmental
awareness, and alternative energy education fills most
of our daily conversations in engineering and science
education. Increasing the percentage of power derived
from clean and sustainable alternative energy sources
has become an increasingly important strategy to
achieve reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

Applicability of the Work

Year wise plan of work and targets to be achieved:
A) First Year

simulation software Proteus.
ii.construct a model prototype solar cell movement system
with a mechanical assembly assemble to move the panel
from 180 E to W.
iii. To fabricate a DC motor control interfaced with driver
circuit
iv. To design an electronic circuit to sense the intensity of
light and to control DC motor driver for the panel
movement.
