What is college violence ?

College violence is anything if anyone uses physical force to injure somebody or threaten
somebody or spread nasty rumors about somebody.
Ragging, Bullying, sexual harassment, forced drug addiction etc are very popular example
of college violence.

Why choose this Project ?

From 5 to 6 years in West Bengal, college violence like Ragging, Sexual harassment and
rapes and also drug addiction are increasing in alarming rate.
From a survey from National Anti Ragging Helpline West Bengal placed in second position
in Ragging after Uttar Pradesh in 2009-2013.
Also some cases like JU molestation and VB molestation in 2014 happened in our state. So
we will fear that in near future WB will become top for College Violence and that will be very
painful to us.

Why College Violence occur ?

In history of India , this country not attacked any other country and till now India has been called
peaceful country.

So one question arise that then why violence occur in India ?

To answer this question we are analyzing the history of India and find that maximum violence was
occurred after coming of western countries especially England in our country.
Now we analyzing the history of European countries and found many evidence like violence on
Galileo and we understand that violence is come from European Countries.

Now question arise why people of India followed that culture ?

In 1835 Thomas Babington Macaulay reported British Parliament that the bonding between
people of India was very strong because of organized Indian Education system.
So in the same year British Parliament apply English Education Act 1835 and English became
the main language for studying in India and also destroyed the vernacular medium Schools and
Colleges.
So Indian culture start from beginning then and violence enter in Indo-Western mixing
Culture.

But what happened after independence, why violence still occur ?

Again we go back to History and find that maximum leader was studied from Colleges of England so
they looked like Indian but believed in European culture. And all the rules like English Education Act,
Indian Police Act etc are same.
And effect of that maximum foreign companies stays in India and helped India to become Western.

But what is the problem to accept the Western culture ?

From survey, maximum domestic and college violence are occur in USA and European countries. So
there will be some fault in their culture.

After Independence what India took from Western ?

Idiotic copy of their movies and show in Indian theatre and its ended up with Indo-Western mix .
Most dangerous thing we took was Television and copied their TV serials and Cartoons frame by
frame.
Problem with their serials and cartoon is that they show their culture like violence in innocent people,
sex, rapes and these incidents are normal to their culture and civilizations and dont match with our
culture.
But think a 5 years Indian child see these things repeatedly and after age of 20 he will be seen
millions of violence and rapes in TV and if he will become violent there will be nothing surprise.

Our Research :
When we go several colleges we see that most of the students grasp the western culture
from the movies and serials.
30 40% students are drug addicted in engineering colleges of West Bengal and they are
smoker also.
Many other students are less smoking but we also include them.
There are many girls addicted to drugs and that is very painful to us.
Many researches and surveys say that most of the ragging and sexual harassment was
occurred by the drug addicted students.
And interesting thing is that addicted students also forced the juniors to take the drugs and
that is also very nasty violence. Now if these junior students will be drug addicted then they
will do violence.
And this drug addiction and smoking basically came from movies and serials those were
copied from western.

Laws for Violence in colleges:

There will be many strict laws from UGC and WBUT for these type of violence.
But authority in most of the colleges not that strong to apply these laws on students.
From survey we see that most of the students are not familiar with these laws.

Authority of West Bengal

Most worst authority now run in West Bengal. Because most of the time government and
police not take the FIR from victim.
Also some victims face violence from these authorities and that is very painful.
