CANVEY ISLAND
From Becontree Station we went to Canvey Island via train. By using
this location on a hot summer day it enabled me to shoot shots of the
sea close to home. The pros of using this location were that it wasnt a
long journey time and we collected some very effective shots, although
the cons were the sea water was dirty and there was no visible sand
due to the tide being in, this was a set back but we rectified this by
deciding to use filters to enhance the sunlight in order to make the
water look clearer. It will bring a sense of summer time fun to the
video as generally beaches signify summer time and hopefully this is
what our audience will decode from this.

BENFLEET
From Canvey Island we then hired a BMW convertible to take shots in
around the Benfleet area. We decided to do this as we felt a change in
location would be effective and the journey time from where we
initially were to Benfleet was around 15 minutes. We chose a
convertible car as we felt it reinforced the general ideologies associated
with the typical codes and conventions associated with a pop / house
music video. The pros of using this location was that it was extremely
effective for the shots we got and we felt by going the extra mile and
using the car it would signify our dedication in the final product. On
the other hand, we found it challenging to have the room in order to
film as we were all quite close together but in the end we still collected
a range of shots which will be useable in the editing stage. This will
bring an essence of escapism to the demographic as it is not typically
an everyday thing to be driving around in a convertible car.

HAINULT FOREST
We travelled from Becontree Station to Hainault Forest in order to
collect some shots within the forest. We felt that by using shots of
nature it would juxtapose the busy city setting also used within our
music video and therefore make it more effective. The pros of using this
location were that it was relatively local and only took around half an
hour in a cab. It also has a very large site so we were able to find
locations within the forest that were desolate and really emphasised
the calm we were aiming for. We also found a lake close by to the forest
with river boats which we felt really enhanced the adventurous style
look we were aiming to achieve. However, me and my partner found it
challenging to carry all the equipment outdoors all day on one of the
most hottest days of the year and found it quite easy to get lost within
the forest.

TRAFALGAR SQUARE
We travelled from Becontree Station to Trafalgar Square which proved
the cheapest location we used as we could reach our destination via
London Underground. We were able to collect shots in a busy setting
which would be in place to juxtapose the calm locations used
previously. We wanted to achieve a summer of fun look within our
music video and we feel by using as many shots in as many different
locations as possible it will really emphasise this idea. The pros of
using this location is that there are street performers there which is
extremely singular to Central London. It may also provide escapism for
the audience as they may be from another country and not able to
afford to come to England and this video is a way they can perceive the
typical London summer from the comfort of their own home. Although,
we found that at the busiest points of the day, setting up the equipment
proved extremely difficult due to the lack of room, but we overcame this
obstacle and collected some very effective shots.

V FESTIVAL CHELMSFORD
I attended the music festival V FESTIVAL in Chelmsford over the
summer where I was lucky enough to see Sigala perform our chosen
song. This was my personal favourite location as I enjoyed myself
whilst doing something that assisted my education. I was able to film
the entire performance and it is therefore useful to use within the
video itself as it corresponds well with the other shots we have
collected. The pros of using this location were it gives my group a
unique advantage as not many other people have had a chance to
physically see the artist who they are remaking the video from. A con
was I was quite far away from the stage although I got high up in the
sky as was therefore able to get high angle shots of the masses of
people enjoying themselves. It will also give a sense of realism to the
demographic as I am at an actual event that other members of the
audience may also be at.

CAMDEN MARKET
We travelled from Becontree Station to Camden Market, which was
also a extremely cheap location to go to. The vibrant and unique
culture of Camden is famous and by using this within our video
signifies the diverse backgrounds our music is representing. We
collected a range of shots which made the colours of the urban city
flourish. A pro of using this location is that it further reinforces the
ideology of a typical British summer and therefore portrays the
ideology of realism as other British people within the audience are
then able to associate scenes shown on screen with their own lives. A
negative of using this location is that it is a tourist attraction meaning
it was extremely busy, although, me and my partner aim to go to this
location again earlier in the morning to minimise the crowds as much
as possible
