INTRODUCTION
Anime and manga fandom is a
worldwide community of fans of
anime and manga.
Anime includes animated series,
films and videos.
Manga includes Manga, graphic
novels, drawings, and related
artwork.
They have their origin in
Japanese entertainment, but the
style and culture has spread
worldwide since its introduction
into the West in the 1990s.

HISTORY
Anime and manga fandom traces back
to the 1970s when after Space
Battleship Yamato stopped airing on
Japanese television, fans of the
series banded together to get it
back on the air.

DECLINE OF MANGA
The manga market in Japan has started to
decline.
In 2007, the manga industry showed a 4%
decrease in sales from the previous year.
Japanese and American researchers
proposed that this may be due to the lack of
interest in reading amongst the young
population in Japan.
The manga critic and translator Matt
Thorn stated that there was a growing
dissatisfaction with the lack of originality
found in many manga. It is believed that the
ability to view anime and manga on cell
phones was one of the major causes of
decline in demand for the same.

Anime lovers
incorporate wigs, hair
dye, cloth and sewing
notions,liquid latex,
body paint, costume
jewellery, and prop
weapons in their looks.

HAIRSTYLE
Often wigs are worn in conjunction
with the outfit to further improve
the resemblance to the character.
This is especially necessary for
anime and manga or video-game
characters who often have
unnaturally coloured and uniquely
styled hair.
