INTRODUCTION
A composite material is a structural material that consists
of two or more combined constituents which are
combined at macroscopic level.
Due to their following characteristics, they are exploited
as a replacement for the Conventional Fiber.
Low cost
Fairly Good Mechanical Properties
High Specific Strength
Non-abrasive
Eco-friendly
Bio-degradability

Objectives of the Project

To Utilize the Agro-residue particulate material in the
production of composites.
To utilize the Sugarcane Waste thrown out from
sugarcane industry.
To fabricate the particle reinforced based Epoxy hybrid
composite.
To characterize the mechanical properties of BagasseEpoxy Composite.

Scope of the Project

The extraction of fiber from the cane waste leads to eco-

friendly.
The readily available fiber leads to reduction in

manufacturing cost.
Improved thermal properties leads to implementation of

composite material in storage devices.

Replacement of Automobile parts by Bagasse-epoxy

composite can reduce the weight of the system.

BAGASSE
Bagasse

is

the

fibrous

matter

that

remains

after sugarcane or sorghum stalks are crushed to extract

their juice. It is dry pulpy residue left after the extraction
of juice from sugar cane.
For each 10 tons of sugarcane crushed, a sugar factory
produces nearly 3 tons of wet bagasse. Since bagasse is
a by-product of the cane sugar industry.

EPOXY RESIN

The following outstanding properties has been

used as the matrix material:
Excellent adhesion to different materials.
High resistance to chemical and atmospheric
attack.
High dimensional stability.
Free from internal stresses.
Excellent mechanical and electrical properties.
Odorless, tasteless and completely nontoxic.
