1) In what way does your media product use, develop

or challenge forms and conventions of media
products?
In my magazine, I included a masthead in the top left hand
corner of my magazine to keep to the typical conventions of
a magazine. Sticking by this ensures that my magazine has
a professional outlook and perception.
Also, similar to the actual student magazine, I have
anchored my Main cover line, and secondary cover lines, to
my main image. This is a common convention, also, of all
magazines. Doing this, allows for a clear depiction from
different cover lines and allows the reader to associate the
certain images to specific storylines; this may help them to
engage with the magazine.
Another code of magazine that I included is a barcode.
This is a legal necessity, therefore by including it, again,
am improving the appearance of my magazine by
enhancing its professionalism.

Ordered layout

1) In what way does your media product use, develop

or challenge forms and conventions of media
products?
In my contents, I used an ordered lay out to improve the
appearance of the page. I am aware that clear columns and
spacing is a common convention of magazine contents so I
chose to replicate this lay out to ensure the appearance was
easy for the reader to understand.
I, also, kept to the colour scheme of the college for my
magazine pages. This is especially evident in my contents
with the greens and greys used. Being consistent with my
colour scheme allows for my magazine to look aesthetically
professional. As well as this, it allows the reader to establish
which college the magazine is aimed for; this forms my
target reader easier.
Also, I have used bevelling on pictures, alongside this
colour scheme, which adds a touch of modern style to my
magazine. This theme, being present, suits my target
audience as they are young as well as college students.

2) What have you learnt about technologies from the

process of constructing this product?
Before I began the construction of my magazine, I had
never used software such as Prezi or Photoshop.
Whilst establishing my magazine, I made a presentation on
my Original Images chosen for my magazine on Prezi. This
software, I was unfamiliar with; I self-taught myself how to
use the basic functions of this technology. My knowledge on
software used to make presentations has now expanded as I
am now aware of sites such as Prezi or Emaze; previous to
this, I only knew of Microsoft office.
In regards to Photoshop, I have now learnt how to
manipulate the use of layers to create a final product and
also how to use a range of basic functions. I did a trial on
Photoshop, before making my front cover or contents, to
make sure I had the basic skills learnt. I then used these
and adapted them when making my actual products.
