1) In what ways does your media product

use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of media products?
I have used a main image of the model which follows the rule
of thirds method as the models eyes are within the hotspot
which is where the model has direct mode of address with its
audience and captivating their attention and this is similarly
done in Glamour magazine using Cheryls eyes as its focus
point. Additionally, I have used a consistent use of colour
scheme of red and white due to them colours being the
colours of the England flag which shows an amount of
nationalism as well as relating to the audience as this is
where they live. Glamour magazine does the same here with
their Pink and white colour scheme as this is to relate to their
target audience of females whereas my magazine is for both
genders and using colours that are not specifically for a
gender like blue or pink. Although Glamour magazine used
different fonts for their smaller coverlines, I have kept the
same font throughout but instead changed the smaller
coverline into white and the main coverline as red which
helps portray the colour scheme. I have also placed a pug in
my magazine which is an advertised freebie and mine is for
Free Costa vouchers whereas Glamour magazine have not
done this. Both of these magazines have banners to make it
stand out and both magazines have used their own colour

1) In what ways does your media product use, develop

or challenge forms and conventions of media products?
I have used the rule of thirds method on the contents
page and have tried in some form to make the
structure seem unique and modern just like the target
audience in Q magazine however there contents page
is very well organised and structured showing some
formality. The contents as well as the masthead images
continue to portray the consistent colour scheme of red
and white which signifies the both gender target
audience as well and Q magazine as their colour
scheme is quite similar to the student magazine.
However on the student contents page my background
image is of the college which is relatable to the target
audience as it is for the students of the college in the
building especially is the first building the students see
when they walk onto the college site and the angle the
photo was taken is quite modern which yet again
signifies the target audience. Social media link were
added to fill some dead space at the bottom of the
student magazine and the social media connect with

2) What have you learnt about technologies from

the process of constructing this product?
The thing I felt very challenging was Photoshop. I had never used
Photoshop before at all and creating the magazine on this software was
quite a challenge at first. However by attending a Media Workshop lesson
I was able to get the hang of the basics of Photoshop and provide a
student magazine front cover and contents page. I found it easy to gather
photos for the magazine as the surrounding of the college was quite
helpful to relate to the target audience for the student magazine and
certain aspects of the college quite easily captivate this. I have learned
how to use a range of cameras and transfer the images onto a computer
and using such websites like Prezi were quite difficult due to crashed
every so often but the result was quite pleasing. The skills I have learnt
on Photoshop range from having your own background image and
pressing Shift to make sure the image wont be stretched if I want to
enlarge an image as well as creating text and making it bolder and
dynamic with the fx tool and making my masthead more dynamic with
the fx tool as well.
For my contents I used similar methods as well and I used the rectangle
tool to provide a secondary background to my secondary images so my
