CONNELL

WHO IS KELLI
CONNELL?
Photographer from
Oklahoma who
earned her BFA
from UNT in 1997
and her MFA from
TWU in 2003
Currently lives in
Chicago

WHATS HER
ART ABOUT?

The events portrayed in these

photographs look believable, yet have
never occurred. By digitally creating a
photograph that is a composite of multiple
negatives of the same model in one
setting, the self is exposed as not a
solidified being in reality, but as a
representation of social and interior
investigations that happen within the
mind.

CONSTRUCTED
REALITIES
The importance of these
images lies in the
representation of interior
dilemmas portrayed as an
external object a
photograph.

I am interested in not only

what the subject matter says
about myself, but also what
the viewers response to these
images says about their own
identities and social
constructs.

QUESTIONS TO
CONSIDER:

Do you attempt to construct your

identity? (build up your identity to look a
certain way when in reality, that is not
really who you are)
How do people misinterpret your identity?
Are there any parts of your identity that
you struggle to accept or understand?
How does this affect your self-esteem or
confidence?
What is the true reality of your identity?
