Sources of Funds and Some Ratio Based on
December 2008 Audited Financial
Statement
• Funds from Grant/Loan (CARD,
CODESPA, CORDAID) – 60%
• Funds from Operating Activities – 40%
• Operational Self Sufficiency – 130%
• Debt to Equity – 1.5%
• ROE (Grants not Included) – 13%
Advice to MFI’s
• Be clear on the objectives of why should the Institution
provide BDS
• Choose one BDS specialization at a time
• Assign dedicated staff for the program chosen
• Continuous Capacity Building Program (personnel)
• Look for the option of partnership instead of developing
internal capacity
• Have the “Management” committed to this endeavor
• As a social entrepreneur, always consider clients
perspective, look on the market, environment and
engage this in helping the poor.
Conclusions
• Poverty Reduction Perspective, BDS is the
fulfillment of Micro Finance Institutions/Social
Development Foundation to liberate the poor
from poverty.
• Economic Development Prospective, micro
entrepreneurs are at the bottom of the value
chain. Our competitiveness as a country can be
greatly enhanced if micro-enterprises become
more productive and efficient because they
supply the raw materials and basic components
of some of the most critical industries in the
country
