IEQTEL PARAGRAPH
Diary Of Discoveries by Vladimir Kush depicts how curiosity and wonder can lead to
spiritual, physical and self discoveries leading to new opportunities and new places
whilst feeling confronting and challenging. Firstly, the biblical allusion of white doves
are a symbol used in Christianity to represent the holy spirit and purity which suggest
that the ramification of the discovery as a self discovery resulting in a spiritual
transformation. Secondly, The dark lighting from the windows frame that the reader is
in and the bright lighting from suns ray outside the window provokes the readers
wonder and curiosity to want to leave and venture out to sea to discover new
opportunities and places. Finally, the repetition of similar endless lapping waves that
never appear to end make the process of discovery feel confronting and challenging as
it may never draw to a conclusion which can intimidate a person to never want to look
for the discovery. Clearly, Kush has explored the aspects of discovery as being spiritual,
physical and confronting through biblical allusions , lighting and repetition.

REFLECTION
Diary Of Discoveries by Vladimir Kush, a painting from 2013, explorers many aspects of discoveries that
can be seen and understood by breaking down and analysing the visual techniques that Kush has
collaborated. The olden and historic ship, suggest the painting represents a older context, perhaps the
age of discovery, where people would venture out to sea to discover new continents and new ideas,
beliefs, places and opportunities. The age of discovery is the reason we even have countries such as
America and Australia, this allows me to reflect and appreciate the risk the discoverers and sea
venturers took in order attain and achieve their discoveries. The meaning behind all the objects
appearing to bend to the bright light communicate to the reader that the sun is a symbol of hope and it
motivates and starts the process of discovering, this would therefore cause readers such as myself to
reflect on their life, and search for goals that they want to achieve which can motivate them to want to
discover. The artwork promotes the idea of spiritual transformations as a ramification of self discovery
through biblical allusion, which motivates me to want to bring about a change in my life and even
become more aware of my spiritual state and hence transform myself. By analysing this image, I have
been able to evaluate the impact of curiosity and wonder as the catalyst for discoveries which hence
starts the process of discoveries. I was then required in my analysis to outline and explain the key
elements linked to discoveries in my presentation, and afterwards explain into further depth the overall
meaning behind Kush's artwork. But largely my reflection on the artwork and its elements of discovery
allowed me to relate the artwork to myself and use it to motivate myself into looking out for discoveries
by deriving the insight the composer has provided for the reader.
