Christianity [note 1] is a monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It is the
world's largest religion, with over 2.4 billion followers, or 33% of the global population, known as
Christians

The spectre of many national churches supplanting a unitary Catholic church became a grim reality during
the age of the Reformation. What neither heresy nor schism had been able to do beforedivide Western
Christendom permanently and irreversiblywas done by a movement that confessed a loyalty to the
orthodox creeds of Christendom and professed an abhorrence for schism. By the time the Reformation
was over, a number of new Christian churches had emerged and the Roman Catholic Church had come to
define its place in the new order

What is the religion of Christianity?

Christianity is the world's largest religion, with over 2.4 billion adherents, [note 2]known as Christians.
[note 3]
Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the savior of humanity whose coming as the
Messiah (the Christ) was prophesied in the Old Testament.

The most traumatic era in the entire history of Roman Catholicism, some have argued, was the period
from the middle of the 14th century to the middle of the 16th. This was the time when Protestantism,
through its definitive break with Roman Catholicism, arose to take its place on the Christian map. It was
also the period during which the Roman Catholic Church, as an entity distinct from other branches of
Christendom, even of Western Christendom, came into being.

When was the birth of Christianity?

Birth of Christianity. If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced even
if someone rises from the dead. This book is about the lost years of earliest Christianity, about the 30s
and 40s of the first century, about those dark decades immediately after the execution of Jesus.
Judaism places emphasis on right conduct (or orthopraxy), focusing on the Mosaic Covenant, as recorded in the
Torah and Talmud. Christians believe in individual salvation from sin through repentance and receiving Jesus Christ
as their God and Savior through faith (and in some Christian traditions, good works).

What do the Christians believe in?

One God: Christianity is founded on the belief that there is one God composed of three distinct
persons: God the Father, Jesus Christ his Son, and the Holy Spirit. They serve distinct purposes but are
one as a deity. 2. God created the world: Christians believe God created the world in six days, resting
on the seventh.

Christianity has divided into three major branches over the centuries. Over the centuries, Christianity has
divided into numerous denominations. Each denomination has its own distinctive beliefs or practices, but
they are generally considered a branch of mainstream Christianity if they agree on core doctrines like the
divinity of Jesus Christ and the authority of the Bible. Relationships between denominations range from
mutual respect and cooperation to denial that the other group is really "Christian."
The three main branches of Christianity are Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy and Protestant. Some
regard Anglicanism as a fourth branch that fits in none of these categories, while others categorize it as
Protestant.

Christianity

Christians believe that Jesus was the Messiah promised in the Old Testament.

Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Christians believe that God sent his Son to earth to save humanity from the consequences of its sins.

One of the most important concepts in Christianity is that of Jesus giving his life on the Cross (the Crucifixion) and
rising from the dead on the third day (the Resurrection).

Christians believe that there is only one God, but that there are three elements to this one God:
God the Father

At the very least, Christianity is the faith tradition that focuses on the figure of Jesus Christ. In this context, faith refers
both to the believers act of trust and to the content of their faith. As a tradition, Christianity is more than a system of
religious belief. It also has generated a culture, a set of ideas and ways of life, practices, and artifacts that have been
handed down from generation to generation since Jesus first became the object of faith. Christianity is thus both a
living tradition of faith and the culture that the faith leaves behind. The agent of Christianity is the church, the
community of people who make up the body of believers.

To say that Christianity focuses on Jesus Christ is to say that somehow it brings together its beliefs and practices
and other traditions in reference to a historic figure. Few Christians, however, would be content to keep this reference
merely historical. Although their faith tradition is historicali.e., they believe that transactions with the divine do not
occur in the realm of timeless ideas but among ordinary humans through the agesthe vast majority of Christians
focus their faith in Jesus Christ as someone who is also a present reality. They may include many other references in
their tradition and thus may speak of God and human nature or of church and world, but they would not be
called Christian if they did not bring their attentions first and last to Jesus Christ.

Bible verse
he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure,
which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their
fulfillmentto bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
Ephesians 1:9-10 NIV

Lent is an important time of preparation for Christians. The death and resurrection of Christ, celebrated during Holy Week
and Easter, is the culmination of Christian faith. All Saints' Day (also known as All Hallows' Day or Hallowmas) is the day after
All Hallows' Eve (Hallowe'en). It is a feast day celebrated on 1st November by Anglicans and Roman Catholics.
It is an opportunity for believers to remember all saints and martyrs, known and unknown, throughout Christian history. As
part of this day of obligation, believers are required to attend church and try not to do any servile work.
Remembering saints and martyrs and dedicating a specific day to them each year has been a Christian tradition since the 4th
century AD, but it wasn't until 609AD that Pope Boniface IV decided to remember all martyrs. Originally 13th May was
designated as the Feast of All Holy Martyrs. Later, in 837AD, Pope Gregory IV extended the festival to remember all the
saints, changed its name to Feast of All Saints and changed the date to 1st November.

Whoever heeds life-giving correction will be at home among the wise. Those
who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correc
tion gains understanding.
